About The Position

Encepta is hiring two reliable, safety-conscious Field Specialists to drive LiDAR-equipped mapping vehicles and conduct telecommunications field audits across British Columbia and Alberta. The role involves extensive travel, with minimum periods of approximately two to three weeks away from home. When weather prevents mapping, the Field Specialist supports other field programs; training is provided on Encepta’s equipment and methods. The position is suited to someone who enjoys independent work and travel, takes ownership of assignments, and adapts confidently to changing plans.

The Field Specialist safely drives assigned routes, operates vehicle-mounted mapping equipment, collects field data, and maintains accurate records and daily progress updates. They plan trips around mapping priorities, weather, and schedules, arrange travel and accommodation within approved budgets, and keep vehicles and equipment clean, secure, and ready for use. Success involves completing work accurately and on schedule, communicating clearly with the team, adjusting plans responsibly, and consistently following safe work practices.

Requirements

• Two to three years of telecommunications experience, ideally in installation or fieldwork.
• A valid Class 5 driver’s licence.
• Confidence using technology and learning new equipment.
• Strong organization and reliability, and comfort working independently.
• Willingness to travel extensively across BC and Alberta, including extended overnight stays.
• Ability to manage travel bookings and expenses within established budgets.
• Consistently follow safe work practices.

Responsibilities

• Safely drive assigned routes and operate vehicle-mounted mapping equipment.
• Complete telecommunications field audits and other field data collection tasks.
• Plan trips around mapping priorities, weather conditions, and schedules.
• Arrange travel and accommodation within approved budgets.
• Complete vehicle and equipment checks and report operational issues.
• Maintain accurate field records, daily updates, and route progress.
• Keep vehicles and equipment clean, secure, and ready for use.
• Adjust travel plans responsibly when weather or priorities change.
• Work independently while maintaining clear communication with the team.
