About The Position

Weatherford is seeking an experienced and highly adaptable Field Tech III to support Artificial Lift operations with a primary focus on Gas Lift Systems throughout the Permian Basin, South Texas, and other areas as business needs require. This position is a hands-on senior field and shop role responsible for supporting installations, equipment preparation, customer coordination, job execution, and technician development across Gas Lift, Production Packers, Reservoir Monitoring, and Capillary Systems. Gas Lift operations; not limited to Gas Lift when operational support is needed elsewhere. Permian Basin and South Texas, with support to other areas as needed. Approximately 50%, based on customer demand, staffing gaps, and operational priorities. No guarantee that the position will remain based out of the Permian Basin. South Texas support may be required due to current staffing needs. Train and mentor upcoming Field Techs in South Texas with the goal of building local capability and allowing the role to operate mostly out of the Permian Basin when business conditions allow.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experienced Field Tech II or equivalent oilfield services background with demonstrated readiness for a senior Field Tech III role.
  • Strong operational and field execution background in Artificial Lift, completions, production operations, or related oilfield services.
  • Hands-on experience with Gas Lift equipment installation, service, troubleshooting, and field/shop support.
  • Strong understanding of field execution, rig operations, workover activity, and service coordination.
  • Ability to safely execute field operations with minimal supervision.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work directly with customers, field personnel, vendors, and internal teams.
  • Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record.
  • Ability and willingness to travel approximately 50% of the time and support multiple operating areas as needed.

Nice To Haves

  • 5+ years of experience in artificial lift, completions, or production operations.
  • Experience working directly with workover rigs, well interventions, running configurations, or recompletions.
  • Experience with Production Packers, Reservoir Monitoring Systems, and Capillary Systems.
  • Background as a lead technician, senior field technician, field supervisor, or operations coordinator.
  • Ability to identify and troubleshoot common downhole and surface-related production issues.
  • Experience coordinating service operations, logistics, crew support, inventory, and job planning.
  • Demonstrated ability to train, coach, and develop less-experienced field personnel.

Responsibilities

  • Install, service, troubleshoot, and retrieve Gas Lift Systems and associated Artificial Lift equipment.
  • Support installation and service activities involving Production Packers, Reservoir Monitoring Systems, and Capillary Systems.
  • Perform field deliveries, equipment drop offs, equipment mobilization, rig-up/rig-down support, and wellsite coordination.
  • Act as the on-site or primary operations contact during assigned workover jobs, interventions, or completion-related operations.
  • Execute jobs safely and efficiently while following Weatherford procedures, customer requirements, and applicable quality standards.
  • Assist customers and field personnel with troubleshooting operational and equipment-related issues during job planning and execution.
  • Support daily shop operations including tool preparation, inspection, maintenance, testing, repair, and inventory readiness.
  • Coordinate inventory, logistics, and vendor support to meet operational and customer needs.
  • Assist with asset utilization, cost control, equipment readiness, and operational efficiency initiatives.
  • Maintain accurate job documentation, service reports, equipment movement records, and post-job follow-up notes.
  • Interface professionally with customers, consultants, field personnel, and internal support teams.
  • Participate in job planning, issue resolution, and operational follow-up with customers and internal stakeholders.
  • Communicate risks, equipment needs, schedule changes, and job status clearly and timely.
  • Support service coordination between district operations, shop personnel, vendors, and field crews.
  • Train and mentor developing Field Techs, especially within the South Texas group, to build local competency and execution capability.
  • Lead by example in safety, quality, customer service, technical execution, and professionalism.
  • Support process improvements, QA/QC practices, and safety standards across assigned work areas.
  • Remain flexible to support field work, shop work, customer needs, training activities, emergency requests, and other business priorities where needed.
