About The Position

This role is responsible for coordinating service activities related to installing, investigating, and resolving technical issues with sign equipment. The Field Service Technician will perform or oversee the elimination of future operational or service difficulties, deliver serviced signs and equipment, and maintain service vehicles. This position requires a strong understanding of electrical systems, sign repair, and customer service, with a focus on safety and quality control.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • Eight or more years of demonstrated experience in electrical sign service.
  • Four or more years of demonstrated experience in power tool operation, welding, electrical, or related areas.
  • Completion of the YESCO or other electrical sign service apprenticeship program.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and apply specification documents, government coding document information, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to apply geometric and algebraic mathematical calculations.
  • Ability to move, lift, and carry materials, equipment, parts, and completed projects.
  • Ability to communicate effectively.
  • Valid Driver’s License.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver serviced signs and equipment to customer locations.
  • Drive YESCO sign and equipment service vehicles.
  • Restock and maintain parts and inventory in service vehicles.
  • Operate lift equipment to perform sign service assessment and repair.
  • Install new or modified equipment at customer facilities.
  • Review service reports, work orders, and documentation.
  • Inspect malfunctioning or damaged product to determine the scope of the problem.
  • Analyze findings to recommend repair, replacement, or other corrective actions.
  • Troubleshoot and repair sign equipment and structures.
  • Perform electrical troubleshooting and repair for signs and lights.
  • Prepare and use materials according to job service order specifications.
  • Operate metal cutting equipment to cut materials to service specifications.
  • Implement and maintain quality control and safety during service.
  • Sand, polish, and clean materials for sign service.
  • Layout materials for sign service.
  • Touch up paint and perform detail work on signs.
  • Perform preventative maintenance and minor repairs on service department equipment and vehicles.
  • Act as a communication link between the customer and the company.
  • Complete work orders and service documentation for cost calculation.
  • Train new service employees and apprentices.
  • Ensure department meets expectations and deadlines.
  • Respond to emergency service calls.
  • Practice safety while performing as part of the service rappel team.
  • Keep work area organized, clean, and free from debris.
  • Perform other functions as necessary or as assigned.
