About The Position

Motorola Solutions is seeking a Field Service Technician to support Public Safety customers in the Salisbury, MD area. This role involves performing preventative maintenance, troubleshooting complex technical issues, and collaborating with various internal teams and customers. The technician will be responsible for maintaining, optimizing, and supporting advanced communication systems and software applications, including RF and Broadband systems. Continuous training on new technologies and troubleshooting techniques is expected. The position requires a strong understanding of RF systems, standard telephony, data circuits, and packet switching techniques. The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, able to solve customer problems effectively in stressful situations, and possess strong interpersonal skills to work with diverse stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Must live a commutable distance to Salisbury, MD.
  • Must have a current, valid driver’s license and no traffic violations.
  • Must be able to obtain background clearance as required by government customer.
  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S. indefinitely is required.
  • Must be willing to travel 30% of the time as needed around the state of Maryland.
  • This position is subject to working in high security areas governed by the US Department of Justice's "Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) Security Policy" and therefore requires successfully passing a more stringent fingerprint background check administered by Motorola Solutions Inc. customers.
  • 4+ years experience in one of the following: LMR, RF Systems, Radio Communications, Radio Frequency, Motorola equipment, Wired/Wireless Communication Systems, IT Systems, Telecommunications, Public Safety, Engineering, Networking equipment or Military experience.
  • Proficiency in computer network installation, configuration, and maintenance, including cabling, routers, switches, firewalls, and bridges.
  • Knowledge of wired communication systems, such as LAN and WAN.
  • Experience with logging recording systems, RF interfaces, wired/wireless communication systems, and networking equipment.
  • Computer literate with proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and Access.
  • Strong self-management and interpersonal skills to work effectively with Motorola’s customers, subcontractors (MSS), and internal teams (Sales, Engineering, Project Management, and customer service).
  • Self-motivated and self-managed to perform duties with minimal direct supervision.
  • Ability to quickly solve customer problems in stressful situations.

  • Security +, CompTIA, or a related certification is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventative maintenance, focusing on trend analysis and comprehensive documentation.
  • Develop solutions for complex technical issues related to system maintenance, upgrades, and support.
  • Engage in continuous training on the latest technologies and troubleshooting techniques.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Project Management, and Sales to maintain, optimize, and support advanced communication systems.
  • Optimize and support complex communication systems and software applications, including advanced troubleshooting of software-driven electronics, provisioning of infrastructure, and performance optimization of RF and Broadband systems.
  • Maintain, optimize, test, and document complex communication systems.
  • Provide weekly activity and accomplishment reports.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of RF systems (transmitters, receivers, antenna networks), standard telephony, dedicated data circuits, and packet switching techniques.
