About The Position

Collins Aerospace is looking for a Radio Field Service Technician to join our team in Livermore, CA, supporting the Commercial Aviation and Network Services Division. This role is focused on providing excellent customer service while maintaining and repairing critical communication equipment. The position requires a high degree of independence and professionalism in customer interactions. The role involves supporting nationwide Air-to-Ground voice and data networks and custom communication solutions, placing the technician at the forefront of ensuring the operational viability of these systems.

Requirements

  • HS diploma or equivalent (e.g., G.E.D. in the US) or vocational/technical education in a related discipline.
  • Completed a course in Practical Electronics at a technical school, junior college, or equivalent, OR a minimum of two years of Practical Electronics experience.
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without the company’s immigration sponsorship now or in the future.
  • Must be able to lift and carry fifty (50) pounds.
  • Must be able to climb towers and stepped poles up to fifty (50) feet in height.

Nice To Haves

  • Active FCC General Radiotelephone Operator's License (GROL).
  • Experience in fault isolation, restoration, and adjustment of company communications equipment.
  • Experience analyzing system failures and identifying and restoring equipment malfunctions and failures.
  • Experience performing testing, repair, and replacement at the component (piece part) and board level.
  • Prior experience reading and following technical manuals/instructions.
  • Basic knowledge of how to read schematics and drawings.

Responsibilities

  • Install, maintain, test, adjust, and repair communication equipment such as radio and antenna systems.
  • Utilize test equipment as required to perform proper installation or repair.
  • Interact with customers, vendors, and contractors independently and professionally in support of maintenance and installation activities.
  • Provide on-the-job training.
  • Provide 24/7 support, including being on-call after hours, on weekends, and holidays.
  • Obtain an FCC General Radiotelephone Operator's License (GROL) within 6 months of being hired.
  • Obtain and maintain SIDA (Security Identification Display Area) badging for access to certain Federal regulated areas of the airport; this includes Security Threat Assessment (STA) and a fingerprint-based Criminal History Records Check (CHRC) and SIDA training.
  • Lift and carry fifty (50) pounds and climb towers and stepped poles up to fifty (50) feet in height.
  • Assist in Facilities and EH&S tasks.
