About The Position

Bloom Energy, a solid oxide fuel cell company, is looking for a Field Service Technician to join its world-class team. We're looking for a dynamic professional seeking a rewarding future in one of today’s most exciting technologies. This role is located onsite at the Field Office in Vineland, Cumberland County, NJ. The position involves providing fuel cell service during shifts, operating a service vehicle safely, and managing on-site preventative maintenance, repair, test, and diagnostic tasks. The technician will create daily workflows, work autonomously, and follow company procedures. Responsibilities include diagnosing errors, cooperating with a technical team, comprehending customer access requirements, maintaining service vehicle and spare part inventory, building positive customer relationships, producing service reports, and completing administrative duties. The role requires willingness to travel up to 40%, flexibility in work schedule (Tuesday-Saturday or Sunday-Thursday), and participation in an on-call rotation. The company is a leader in clean, reliable, and affordable energy solutions, pioneering solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC) and solid oxide electrolyzer (SOEC) technologies for critical industries.

Requirements

  • High school diploma & 6 years’ experience in electrical, process controls, or electro-mechanical fields; OR Technical diploma, Journeymen Certification, Electrician Certification in a technical field, and relevant industry experience of 4 years (electrician, electronics technician, field service, technician, test engineer, etc.); OR 5 years or more relevant experience in commercial electrical, combined with electrical-related military experience (eg. Navy Nuclear Electronics/Electrical Technician, or other technical position, military certified electrician or technician, Gas Turbine Electrician)
  • Strong electrical troubleshooting/diagnostic skills required.
  • Familiar with safety standards, especially those related to electrical work (OSHA & NFPA 70E).
  • Prior experience as an electrician or electrical technician working with any of the following technologies: three-phase systems, uninterruptible power supplies, electrical generation and distribution systems, power electronics, automatic transfer switches, and microprocessor-based control platforms.
  • Experience with various electrical/electronic test and measurement equipment.
  • Able to read and interpret electrical single-line diagrams and blueprints.
  • Experience with performing equipment maintenance in accordance with ANSI/NETA standards for Electrical Power.
  • Mechanical system aptitude, to include troubleshooting/repair skills.
  • Highly motivated and able to work autonomously.
  • Demonstrates sound judgment in the resolution of complex problems.
  • Team player who exhibits a high level of integrity and professionalism.
  • Communicates written and verbal English effectively.
  • Comfortable with working from elevated heights up to 20ft in the air.
  • Able to execute against written and verbal procedures and sequenced work instructions.
  • Able to regularly handle equipment up to 50lbs., occasionally may lift up to 70 lbs.
  • Able to reach, squat, bend, and twist during the workday.
  • Able to use a ladder or stepstool regularly.
  • Able to facilitate 24X7 on-call duty.
  • Able to facilitate shift work as needed.
  • Able to regularly support overtime to achieve quarterly goals.
  • Able to travel up to 40%.

Responsibilities

  • Provide fuel cell service during shift at primary site.
  • Operate a service vehicle safely
  • Create daily workflows for oneself from a list of scheduled tasks (regularly assigned to work autonomously)
  • Manage on-site preventative maintenance, repair, test, and diagnostic tasks
  • Follow company procedures and protocols
  • Diagnose errors or technical problems and determine/implement proper solutions
  • Cooperate with a technical team and share information across the organization
  • Comprehend and follow customer access requirements
  • Maintain service vehicle and spare part inventory
  • Maintain/build positive relationships with customers
  • Produce timely and detailed service reports as required
  • Complete daily administrative duties such as closing service appointments and debriefing parts.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned
  • Willing to travel up to 40% to support the company's needs for additional projects.
  • Open to working a Tuesday-Saturday or Sunday-Thursday schedule.
  • Once qualified, provide on-call rotation for possible on-site support.
