About The Position

This position is responsible for the configuration and deployment support, as well as, system management functions and includes troubleshooting and design/implementation associated with ASTRO 25, WAVE VOIP and adjacent technologies for Federal, State and local government agencies requiring highly secure, easily managed, mission critical IP networks. This position reports to the on-site Sr. Mgr. Field Service Team. The role entails providing on-premises support to our valued customers in Washington D.C. This position is subject to working in high security areas governed by the US Department of Justice's "Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) Security Policy" and therefore requires successfully passing a more stringent fingerprint background check administered by Motorola Solutions Inc. customers.

Requirements

  • Ability to understand and/or learn MSI MS&S processes, products, and network management solutions
  • Ability to understand and/or learn troubleshooting and assessment of live networks
  • Understanding of routing protocols: BGP, OSPF, ISIS and others as needed
  • Knowledge of ASTRO 25 Conventional wide-area voice and data systems including OTAR/OTAP, MoM, and cyber technologies (CAC-PIV)
  • Familiarity with LAN switching protocols: G8032 ring protection
  • Familiarity with Manufacture Hardware: Juniper, Nokia, HP, Fortinet
  • Knowledge of different media types: Metro Ethernet, Frame-Relay, Ethernet, SONET
  • Knowledge of physical layer such as: Fiber, Copper, Microwave.
  • Experience with Microsoft Visio, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Google Applications required
  • Must be a U.S. citizen with the ability to obtain necessary security clearance as required by government contracts
  • Must be willing to obtain a DHS Public Trust Clearance
  • High School/GED and 1+ years experience in one of the following: IP Networking, Network Engineering, Solution Architecture, ASTRO 25, WAVE VOIP, LMR, RF Systems, Radio Frequency, Radio Communications, Wired/Wireless Communication Systems, IT, Motorola, or Military experience
  • Must be a U.S. citizen with ability to obtain necessary security clearance as required by government contract(s)

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in scripting/programming is a plus.
  • Experience with use of command line and/or GUI interfaces to provision equipment is a plus
  • Familiarity with Network Management Applications a plus: Solarwinds, JUNO-Space, Nokia SAM/NFM-P, Provision

Responsibilities

  • Consult with Sales, Program Manager, Sr. Field Service Team Manager, and the System Integration team to set strategy, direction and implementation
  • Support Operations and Maintenance activities for ASTRO 25 networks and adjacent technologies
  • Support technical architecture designs for ASTRO 25 and adjacent technologies
  • Create and document detailed technical drawings, work plans, managed service offerings, MOPs and SOPs, etc. as required.
  • Support the evaluation of third party vendor equipment used in our portfolio
  • Work with third party vendors/contractors to ensure delivery of requirements set forth by the design
  • Act in the capacity of a member of the on-site technical staff in best practices for design, implementation, and O&M activities.
