About The Position

Axon is looking for a new Field Service Technician to join their Service team. In this role, you will provide technical support to customers throughout the life of a machine. You will provide advice and physical assistance to the customer in identifying problems associated with the operation of our equipment, as well as offer innovative solutions to make the customer‘s operation function more efficiently and economically. On-site training of customers‘ operators and technicians on set-up, operation, change-over and maintenance of the systems. Assemble component parts for the Aftermarket parts group, engage in occasional machine rebuilds/upgrades, research machine designs to identify non-standard parts, and respond to customers‘ outreach for immediate service support. Prepare detailed trip reports for the customer and company that identify problem(s) encountered, actions taken to resolve the problem(s), and recommended next steps to fully satisfy the customer‘s service needs. Prepare field time reports, expense receipts, and follow-up communication with customers. Other responsibilities may include development of machine operation manuals and troubleshooting guides, exchanging machine design observations with engineering department, updating, and organizing technical files, assembly and test of new machines, and participation in customer Factory Acceptance Tests.

Requirements

  • Associates Degree in related technical field or 8 years related work experience
  • 3+ years in custom machine manufacturing or mechanical repair/maintenance
  • Excellent knowledge of mechanical/electrical technical applications, specifically Allen-Bradley PLCs, servo driven motors and controls, stepper motors and controls, and pneumatic driven machinery
  • Ability to read and understand complex engineering designs, including wiring schematics
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Problem-solver with strong independent judgment skills
  • Track record of successfully multitasking to meet timelines on deliverables

Responsibilities

  • Attend various classes required to obtain and maintain service training certification by the Packaging Machinery Manufacturers Association (PMMMA).
  • Assemble component parts for the Aftermarket parts group.
  • Engage in occasional machine rebuilds/upgrades.
  • Research machine designs to identify non-standard parts.
  • Respond to customers‘ outreach for immediate service support.
  • Prepare detailed trip reports for the customer and company that identify problem(s) encountered, actions taken to resolve the problem(s), and recommended next steps to fully satisfy the customer‘s service needs.
  • Prepare field time reports, expense receipts, and follow-up communication with customers.
  • Development of machine operation manuals and troubleshooting guides.

  • Updating, and organizing technical files.
