About The Position

In this position the Field Service Technician is available for 24/7 on call field service labour, trouble shooting and service training at customer locations for mechanical, electrical, and electronic components such as decanters, high speed separators or heat exchangers to ensure reliable operation, optimum performance and efficiency. Must be able to manage travel costs and operating expenses associated with field service visits. You will play a pivotal role in performing preventive maintenance, emergency and warranty repairs. Currently, this is a remote opportunity located in the Northeast of United States.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree with a strong mechanical background.
  • Over 5 years of experience in similar roles, with desirable expertise in transmission systems.
  • Competent mechanical skills and aptitude.
  • Ability to communicate Operational and Safety parameters for Alfa Laval equipment to the customer.
  • Customer service and sales orientation oriented.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Strong verbal & written skills.
  • Ability to troubleshoot & solve technical problems.
  • Team Player and ability to work independently.
  • Basic PC utilization skills required in word, excel.
  • Ability to learn and use systems required for the administration of service and expense reports.
  • Perform jobs in line with OHSA requirements.
  • Complete established safety training programs.

Responsibilities

  • Executing basic maintenance and minor repairs on selected products at customer sites.
  • Investigating and resolving basic technical problems on selected products with basic knowledge at customer sites.
  • Preparation of assigned service jobs according to the FSE Handbook.
  • Following up on actions and promises made to customers.
  • Writing service reports on site and obtaining customer's signature.
  • Updating service execution IT systems with relevant information.
  • Reporting unsafe practices and other safety incidents according to local reporting procedures.
  • Capturing Installed Base on site and communicating sales leads to sales organization.
  • Proactive recommendations to customers related to purchase of additional spare parts.
  • Executing services in our Service Centers as required.
