About The Position

Custom Truck One Source (CTOS) has openings for Field Service Technicians with backgrounds in aerial, construction equipment, and heavy & light duty trucks. This role involves the PM’s & Repair of Utility Trucks and Equipment, focusing on hydraulics, electrical wiring, and diesel engines for equipment such as bucket trucks, diggers, and truck-mounted cranes. The primary responsibility is to perform vehicle troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance work on chassis and track-mounted aerials, digger derricks, cranes, high rail, and other equipment, in accordance with dealer and factory standards, in the field. The role requires the ability to utilize a laptop for accessing information and performing diagnostic tests, and to prepare inspection reports, repair orders, and timecards completely and accurately. The technician will also be responsible for tagging warranty and core parts for return, advising management of additional work needed, and attending safety and factory-sponsored training classes. Understanding and following federal, state, and local regulations, such as those governing the disposal of hazardous wastes, is also required. Communication with customers and internal departments is essential to ensure minimal equipment downtime. Flexibility to travel beyond the area of coverage is based on business need, and working closely with the Service Manager to grow and improve customer satisfaction is expected. Additional duties may be designated by the Service Manager.

Requirements

  • Mechanics tools
  • Class B CDL
  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Five years of related experience. (Shop Tech and Field Tech)
  • Must hold a valid driver’s license. (CDL Class B preferred.)
  • Must have your own tools.
  • Proficient in documentation using software, meeting deadlines and schedules.

Nice To Haves

  • Electrical, schematic / blueprints, hydraulic, welding, and related experience
  • Experience with Quick Serve, DTNA, or related diagnostic software.
  • DOT, ANSI, and Dielectric testing desired

Responsibilities

  • Perform vehicle troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance work on chassis and track mounted aerials, digger derricks, cranes, high rail, and other equipment, in accordance with dealer and factory standards, in the field.
  • Read and interpret equipment manuals and repair orders/instructions to perform required maintenance and service.
  • Utilize laptop to access needed information and perform diagnostic tests.
  • Perform work as outlined in work instructions set forth by Service Manager; efficiently, accurately, and in accordance with Custom Truck One Source standards.
  • Diagnosis and repair LMI Diagnostics (Load Moment Indicator) and CAN bus (Controller Area Network).
  • Troubleshoot and repair of Utility trucks & Equipment including electrical and hydraulics.
  • Inspect and service vehicles and make repairs and adjustments both at the service center and in the field.
  • Verify work performed, road test vehicles as necessary.
  • Prepare inspection reports, repair orders (recording service time and parts costs) and timecards completely and accurately.
  • Tag all warranty and core parts for return.
  • Advise management immediately if additional work is needed, if work outlined is not needed, or if repairs cannot be completed within the time promised.
  • Attend CTOS safety training and follow all safety requirements.
  • Attend CTOS and factory -sponsored training classes.
  • Understand and follow federal, state and local regulations such as those governing the disposal of hazardous wastes.
  • Communicate easily with customers and internal departments to ensure minimal equipment downtime.
  • Flexibility to travel beyond the area of coverage, based on business need.
  • Work closely with Service Manager to grow and improve customer satisfaction.
  • Perform additional duties or responsibilities as designated by the Service Manager.
