About The Position

The Field Service Technician (NETA 4) is a project supervising technician responsible for performing complex investigations, tests, measurements, and evaluations. The role involves recommending corrective actions, interacting with engineers and managers, and testing for de-energized locked out/tagged out equipment. The technician is also responsible for setting up and removing test equipment, understanding hazardous electrical energy procedures, record keeping, safety of others, switching, evaluations, safety grounding, interacting with other skills and operations, writing and reviewing reports, and performing troubleshooting. The technician can work independently. This role monitors project progress and assigned NETA field technicians. The technician is responsible for project success from start to finish including the final report. They supervise large crews and ensure efficient and safe work practices.

Requirements

  • Must have a satisfactory background/MVR check.
  • Must pass a pre-employment, post-accident, reasonable suspicion, and/or random drug test.
  • Must have reliable transportation and possess a valid driver’s license.
  • Basic understanding of electrical theory.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Interpersonal and social skills; strong customer service skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and attention to detail.
  • High school diploma/GED required.
  • 10+ years of experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited 4-year technical college preferred.
  • NETA certification level 4 preferred.
  • OSHA 30-hour, MSHA, NFPA 70-E, CPR/First Aid/BBP/AED, Power DB training a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Perform complex electrical tests and measurements.
  • Collect and record data accurately.
  • Lead and manage projects, ensuring successful execution from start to finish.
  • Monitor project progress and supervise NETA field technicians assigned to projects.
  • Perform troubleshooting of electrical systems and recommend corrective actions.
  • Write and review detailed reports on test results and findings.
  • Ensure reports are accurate and submitted in a timely manner.
  • Additional responsibilities and tasks as required to support the organization's goals and adapt to evolving business needs.
  • Set up and remove test equipment.
  • Understand hazardous electrical energy procedures.
  • Maintain record keeping.
  • Ensure safety of others.
  • Perform switching, evaluations, and safety grounding.
  • Interact with other skills and operations.
