About The Position

The Field Service Technician is responsible for supporting RK Mission Critical's modular products after delivery to customer sites nationwide. This hands-on role requires a self-directed problem solver with strong electrical and mechanical skills, a customer-focused mindset, and the flexibility to travel frequently on short notice. Technicians are expected to troubleshoot complex issues in the field, communicate professionally with customers, contractors, and third-party inspectors, and execute repairs efficiently with limited oversight. Success in this role requires adaptability, technical acumen, and a strong sense of ownership and accountability for product performance and customer satisfaction.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 1-3 years of experience in manufacturing, construction, field service, electrical installation, or systems troubleshooting
  • Proficiency in electrical/mechanical systems, field diagnostics, and workmanship standards
  • Ability to work independently and resolve issues with limited supervision
  • Ability to create accurate field reports, task summaries, and photo documentation
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Willingness and availability to travel frequently (up to 75%) with short notice

Nice To Haves

  • Technical certification or licensed in the electrical or mechanical trades
  • Experience working with modular, prefabricated, or containerized systems
  • Familiarity with low-voltage power distribution, controls/communications, HVAC systems, or backup power systems
  • General knowledge or experience with the practical application and interpretation of NFPA 70/NEC or IMC
  • OSHA 10/30

Responsibilities

  • Work safely and in compliance with OSHA standards; support site safety and coordination with GCs and subcontractors
  • Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, and building systems based on work instructions, assembly drawings, and schematics
  • Perform component replacements, system testing, and on-site repairs
  • Represent the scope of RKMC’s service clearly and execute to the pre-deployment scope of work to ensure customer alignment
  • Communicate respectfully and professionally with customers; escalate concerns internally before providing resolutions
  • Document all field activity and work completed including service reports, photos, time logs, and customer interactions
  • Maintain tools, equipment, and job site cleanliness to RKMC standards and site requirements
  • Participate in product knowledge training, customer training, and installation oversight support
  • When not traveling, support the RKMC Manufacturing team with the installation, integration, and testing of electrical and mechanical equipment
