About The Position

Goetze Dental is seeking a mechanically talented individual for a Field Service Technician Trainee position in Des Moines, IA. This role is part of a structured training program designed to develop skilled technicians for long-term success. The trainee program involves extensive ride-along training with senior technicians, typically lasting around six months, before transitioning to an independent role with a company van and territory. The work involves installing, repairing, and maintaining dental equipment, including mechanical systems and advanced 3D imaging technology. Occasional support for remote IT technicians may also be required. The position offers primarily Monday-Friday work with no weekends or on-call rotations, year-round indoor work, and competitive pay with a clear path to a full technician salary range of $20–$35/hour. All travel expenses are covered, and a company service van is provided upon solo transition. Benefits include health, dental, vision, a retirement plan, and paid time off, available from day one.

Requirements

  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
  • Ability to lift up to 100 lbs
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • At least 1 year of mechanical, trade, or technical experience
  • Comfortable around technology and willing to learn new systems
  • Strong communication and customer service skills

Responsibilities

  • Ride alongside a senior technician on every call during the training period, actively learning and assisting.
  • Observe and assist with on-site installation, repair, and maintenance of dental equipment.
  • Build diagnostic skills by working through real problems with an experienced mentor.
  • Assist with customer training on equipment use and care.
  • Serve as on-site support for remote IT technicians when needed.
  • Complete work orders and job documentation accurately and on time.
  • Attend manufacturer and company training to build dental equipment expertise.
  • Transition to independent territory and company van upon reaching full competency.
