About The Position

This position is responsible for performing basic to advanced maintenance functions, procedures, activities and responsibilities associated with working on natural gas refrigeration and process systems with general guidance. Duties include learning from and assisting other senior level technicians with servicing, troubleshooting, installing, and commissioning of natural gas refrigeration and process systems. The purpose of the Service Technician II level is to acquire proficiency in performing advanced maintenance, new equipment installation, and overhaul actions with limited supervision that will allow for progression to the Sr. Service Technical level.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • Certification in Refrigeration Theory and Principles
  • Must have 5+ years refrigeration and process systems experience
  • Must have proof of universal EPA certification from the Refrigerant Transition and Recovery Certification Program.
  • State Refrigeration Registration or Certification if required
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen, back ground check and post offer physical testing.
  • Valid motor vehicle driver’s license.
  • Demonstrate an ability to learn in both hands on and classroom setting.
  • Must be proficient with a personal computer and common applicable functions/programs (Word, Excel, and Outlook).
  • Knowledge and ability to accurately complete advanced level maintenance, repairs, and installation activities unassisted.
  • Strong mechanical and electrical abilities with knowledge and experience to perform complex multiple service and maintenance tasks.
  • Must have his/her own tools of the trade. (With exceptions of specialty or OEM specific diagnostic equipment)
  • Ability to use OEM specific instruments and tooling.
  • Capability to perform monthly preventive maintenance and minor repairs on all major OEM’s independently.
  • Ability to provide preventative and corrective field mechanical service on natural gas refrigeration and process systems on site at end user locations.
  • Ability to identify and stop activities that are unsafe for personnel or the environment when they occur or about to occur.
  • Possess an advanced understanding of Gas & Oil properties, conditions, and theories.
  • Has an advanced understanding of Compressor and Production Equipment types, models, and theory of operation.
  • Possess advanced understanding of Installation, Assembly, Commissioning, Trouble Shooting and Repair procedures related to natural gas refrigeration and process systems and equipment.
  • Possess thorough understanding and care of tooling utilized to install, maintain, and operate Gas Compressors and Production Equipment. (Dial indicators, Laser alignment tools, feeler gauges, Digital volts Ohm meter, and, Hydraulic torqueing equipment).
  • Ability to demonstrate proper technique while performing coupling alignments using both Laser and dial indicator methods.
  • Ability to decipher P&ID's, Blue Prints, Installation Instructions, and Technical Manuals.

Responsibilities

  • Represents the company in a professional manner at all times while providing outstanding customer service that aligns with Enerflex visions and values.
  • Responsible for submitting accurate field service reports, expense reports, timesheets and other necessary paperwork daily.
  • Responsible for providing basic leadership and training to new Field Technicians
  • Independently diagnose engine/compressor failures accurately and efficiently.
  • All duties and responsibilities could include a large amount of (multi state) travel at short notice including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Provides input to Supervisor on personnel and materials needs to provide optimal job planning.
  • Complete, accurate, and timely rebuilds/overhauls of compressors, engines and controls on gas compressor packages in adverse conditions with limited to no supervision, in remote locations.
  • Responsible for accurate troubleshooting of electrical systems, basic controls, and unit control panels including a basic understanding of PLC and/or microprocessors.
  • Responds to and repairs recurring problems and emergency services as needed independently.
  • Independently perform installation of new units including commissioning and start-up inspections with little to no supervision accurately.
  • Perform mechanical inspection using micrometers, pressure gauges, electronic diagnostic equipment and other specialty tools independently.
  • Must be able to be on a call-out rotation and effectively make emergency repairs.
  • Must recognize and comply with Health, Safety and Environmental rules and policies that are applicable to each location.
