About The Position

Service Technician II – Windows & Doors - San Luis Obispo, CA Milgard Windows and Doors, part of the MITER Brands family, is seeking a skilled and customer-focused Service Technician II to join our team in San Luis Obispo, CA. In this mid-level role, you will independently diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair window and door products, ensuring a high-quality service experience for our customers. Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • 2–5+ years of experience in window/door service, installation, carpentry, glazing, construction, or related field
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently
  • Proven ability to diagnose product issues and perform repairs with minimal supervision
  • Solid understanding of hand and power tools used in field service environments
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills
  • Comfortable using mobile devices (iPad/tablet) for scheduling, documentation, and reporting
  • Basic computer skills (email, data entry)
  • Valid driver’s license with a safe driving record in accordance with company policy

Nice To Haves

  • Bilingual English/Spanish skills a plus, especially in Spanish-speaking communities

Responsibilities

  • Independently diagnose and repair window and door product issues in the field
  • Troubleshoot complex service concerns and determine root cause of failures or installation challenges
  • Perform advanced repairs, adjustments, and part replacements to restore products to proper function
  • Serve as the primary technician on service calls, ensuring timely and professional resolution
  • Communicate clearly with customers to explain issues, solutions, and product care
  • Complete accurate documentation of service visits using company systems and mobile tools
  • Follow work orders, schedules, safety protocols, and company standards
  • Maintain service vehicles, tools, and work areas in a clean and organized manner
  • Ensure customer homes and job sites are left clean and restored upon completion
  • Manage and track parts inventory within service vehicles or warehouse as needed
  • Support and mentor entry-level technicians when applicable
  • Develop working knowledge of MITER Brands product lines, installation methods, and warranty standards
