About The Position

The Field Service Technician II provides face-to-face customer service located at an off-site location and is responsible for the troubleshooting, diagnosing, repairing, and reconditioning of various light and heavy industrial equipment. This position is responsible for providing troubleshooting and high-quality repair service on power generation, gas, and diesel engines, and ATS (Automatic Transfer Switches), in order to respond to customers' needs in a positive, safe, and timely manner to ensure maximum value for work performed.

Requirements

  • At least 3 years of field or shop service tech troubleshooting and repair skills of Electrical Power and Generator experience required.
  • At least 3 years of field or shop service tech troubleshooting and repair skills of Gas and Diesel Engine experience required.
  • At least 3 years of field or shop service tech troubleshooting and repair skills of ATS (Automatic Transfer Switches) experience required.
  • Must have a clean and valid driver's license.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Must be able to effectively communicate, both written and verbal, with customers and employees in a professional manner.
  • Must have own tools.
  • Ability to be productive by working efficiently and effectively with a high energy level.
  • Ability to work with limited supervision.
  • Must be able to work Monday-Friday and Saturdays and Sundays.
  • Must be on-call.
  • Knowledge of safe work procedures and practices.
  • Knowledge of equipment and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
  • Intermediate knowledge of hydraulics, transmissions, engines, undercarriage, and electrical.
  • Demonstrates proficiency with current computer software, related hardware, and knowledge of machine electronic systems.
  • Exceptional skills in customer service.
  • Intermediate diagnostic and trouble-shooting skills.
  • Planning and organizing skills to prioritize and plan work activities; uses time efficiently; plans for additional resources.
  • Operation and control skills of equipment or systems.
  • Equipment selection skills to determine the kind of tools and equipment needed to do a job.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to operate a crane and forklift, and obtain required certifications/licenses.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and work under fast-paced, time constraining circumstances.
  • Ability to operate hand tools, power tools, pneumatic tools, and equipment used in mechanical repair.
  • The ability to make precisely coordinated movements of the fingers of one or both hands to grasp, manipulate, or assemble very small objects.
  • More than three years of industrial equipment experience required.
  • Valid Driver’s license required.
  • Ability to obtain a valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) and must have an acceptable driving record.
  • Must own required tools to perform repairs.
  • Must be able to move objects, and use abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue.
  • Frequently moves materials or equipment weighing up to 80 lb.
  • Constant movement and use of limbs; this position requires good manual dexterity, coordination, and stamina.
  • Ascends/descends with gradual or continuous progress by oneself, using both hands and feet and climbs up and down ladders and/or equipment.
  • Be able to maneuver safely and work underneath equipment.
  • Routinely reacts to visual, auditory, and other signals, including alarms and instructions, and is required to visually inspect work.

Responsibilities

  • Provides troubleshooting and high-quality repair service on power generation, gas, and diesel engines, and ATS (Automatic Transfer Switches).
  • Models, promotes, reinforces, and rewards the consistent use of HOLT’s Values Based Leadership (VBL) tools, models, and processes.
  • Works safely at all times and adheres to all applicable safety policies; complies with all company policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Performs intermediate repairs and troubleshooting offsite with minimal supervision.
  • Performs basic to intermediate troubleshooting, diagnoses of equipment malfunctions, and failure analysis.
  • Removes and installs parts, disassembles and assembles components to CAT specifications.
  • Tests, makes adjustments, and verifies proper operation of all repairs and adjustments.
  • Prepares and completes all job related documents, writes service reports, orders parts, and maintains clear customer records; accesses databases required to complete job.
  • Acts as a team leader and mentors/coaches.
  • Participates in the quotation of work orders.
  • Operates equipment and vehicles with possession of all necessary licenses and certificates.
  • Maintains service vehicle inspection records, daily inspections and driver logs as required by the Department of Transportation.
  • Adheres to contamination control and HAZMAT rules and regulations.
  • Maintains all company equipment, tools, and vehicle in a good, clean, and working order.
  • Communicates job progress to supervisor and customer as needed.
  • Completes assigned jobs and task to meet flat rate time and re-work standards.
  • Works overtime as required by workload and customers’ needs.
  • Completes all assigned Technician Training Path courses and safety training in a timely and proficient manner.
  • Projects professionalism with both internal and external customers, including personal appearance; may be relied upon to act as a mentor to lower level Technicians.
  • Requires regular and punctual employee attendance.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
