About The Position

RL Controls, LLC (RLC) is an ISO certified systems integrator that supports the diverse technical needs of the mass transportation industry. Our primary focus is on system technologies that support vehicles solutions for shuttle, bus and rail systems and facilities. This role is for a Field Installation & Service Technician who will complete installation, test, and troubleshooting of vehicle systems. This includes upgrading equipment with applicable software, hardware, and data telecommunications network equipment, as well as installing and terminating DC low voltage power and signal wiring. The position reports to the Fleet Maintenance Manager.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience in Field Service and/or Automotive Electronics preferred.
  • Technical installation experience of wired components and hardware.
  • Work to schedules and follow directions, work in harmony with co-workers and customers.
  • Must be able to comprehend technical documentation, descriptions, and specifications.
  • Ability to evaluate their work to ensure a quality product is produced.
  • Competent with hand power tools including certified calibrated tools, multimeters, and the ability to learn special processes.
  • Capable of managing multiple tasks, adapting to change easily and providing creative solutions.
  • Fill out required documentation, reports and follow instructions whether written or verbal.
  • Willing to travel for periods of time around the country and possesses a valid driver's license.
  • The ability to disassemble and install components within different types of vehicles.
  • Work in and around electrical lockers, on top of and around vehicles as high as 16'.
  • Ability to work off a ladder up to 25' for camera replacements.
  • Ability to terminate wires and running cabling and conduit.
  • Physically able to lift 50lbs.
  • Maintain compliance with all PPE and safety regulations per OSHA, FRA, and RLC standards.

Nice To Haves

  • Technical degree or CompTIA, CCTV certifications a plus.
  • Preference given to an individual with proven experiences in:
  • Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams, construction drawings and schematics.
  • Field install, test, troubleshoot CCTV, computers, electronics.
  • IP camera experience.
  • Wired or wireless network management experience/certifications.

Responsibilities

  • Supports projects with onsite work: Hands-on completion of all installation work including disassembling equipment.
  • Perform testing and integration activities as part of a team.
  • Attend site meetings.
  • Provide site-specific input to the project team.
  • Conduct Site Surveys.
  • Supervise electrical subcontractors.
  • Validate network functionality.
  • Complete installation, start-up commissioning duties, Annual Safety training and testing.
  • Low Voltage and network experience with wired and wireless solutions.
  • Must be comfortable around AC and DC high voltages at times.
  • Computer hardware/networking administration and troubleshooting experience.
  • Cable crimping/soldering/testing.
  • Maintain positive professional relationships with the customer and subcontractors.
  • Works as part of a team while maintaining independence.
  • Works well with others, Provides feedback for all the technical aspects of work performed under their responsibility.
  • Follow through skills.
  • Self-motivated and organized with the ability to manage multiple situations on demand.
  • Takes pride and ownership with workmanship and schedule.
  • Participates in ongoing internal and external training programs.
