About The Position

SAIC is seeking a Field Service Engineer to support the United States Air Force in its goal of developing an interoperable system of system in a cloud-based command and control (CBC2) environment. The Advanced Battle Management System (ABMS) CBC2 goals include achieving alignment with the Joint All Domain Command and Control (JADC2) vision of improved information sharing, layered security, common data and architecture standards, system resiliency, faster implementation, and more effective cross-domain capabilities, including the ability for any sensor to inform any shooter across all domains. This next generation system shall employ the latest advancements across the technology spectrum to include AI/ML and distributed architectures. The ideal candidate will have extensive networking experience in supporting large, complex systems of systems and cloud integration. This candidate will have worked with Cross Functional Teams performing software deployments, configuration management, cloud architecture, cyber and testing teams. Finally, the ideal candidate is one willing to learn how to perform software deliveries and cloud integration as a function of the role.

Responsibilities

• Performs high-level, day-to-day operational maintenance, support, and upgrades for complex operating systems, workstations and servers.
• Coordinates, directs and performs complex software installations and upgrades to operating systems and layered software packages.
• Schedules installations and upgrades and maintains them in accordance with established IT policies and procedures.
• Continually monitors and tunes multiple systems to achieve optimum performance levels.
• Ensures workstation/server data integrity by evaluating, implementing, and managing appropriate software and hardware solutions of varying complexities.
• Ensures data/media recoverability by developing and implementing a schedule of system backups and database archive operations.
• Plans and implements the modernization of servers.
• Develops, implements and promotes standard operating procedures and schedules.
• Conducts hardware and software audits of workstations and servers to ensure compliance with established standards, policies, and configuration guidelines.
• Develops and implements new standards, policies and procedures.
