About The Position

Responsible for providing comprehensive, on-site technical service and equipment maintenance for customers across Virginia and North Carolina. The Field Service Mechanic is responsible to diagnose, repair, and maintain trucks, equipment, related machinery and Curry Supply products at customer job sites and field locations in accordance with company policy, legal requirements, and safety standards. The Mechanic performs warranty and mechanical repairs; writes up orders for parts to complete repairs and billing; evaluates parts for reusability and cause of failure; visits customer work sites to perform on-site repairs; and tests new units as needed. Successful candidates must comply with all company safety policies and procedures, including a zero-tolerance drug and alcohol policy and are subject to pre-employment, random, post-incident, and reasonable suspicion drug and alcohol testing.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum two (2) years’ experience repairing and maintaining heavy trucks (including diesel engines and transmissions/components) required.
  • Proficient reading, writing, grammar, and mathematics skills.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Self-motivated, dependable, and capable of working independently with minimal supervision while delivering professional service to customers.
  • Ability to assess a situation and make sound repair decisions while effectively communicating pertinent information to the customer.
  • Possesses advanced multi-tasking ability, troubleshooting equipment, and repair skills.
  • Ability to manage urgent deadlines in a challenging environment.
  • Strong mechanical repair skills including diesel and automotive systems.
  • Knowledge in electrical, hydraulic systems, compressors, and crane repairs.
  • Demonstrated understanding of hydraulic and electric theory.
  • Ability to use service manuals to troubleshoot.
  • Ability to use diagnostic equipment and interpret results.
  • Proficient use of hand and power tools.
  • Proficient PC skills (including Internet).
  • Demonstrated ability to read, follow, and understand hydraulic and electrical schematics.
  • Visual and auditory skills.
  • Ability to stand, sit, bend, reach, climb, crawl, kneel, walk, and work for long periods.
  • Regular twisting, pulling, pushing forces associated with use of tools.
  • Lift/carry up to 75 lbs regularly and up to 100 lbs occasionally.
  • Exposure to outdoor weather conditions.
  • Operate heavy machinery, power tools, or equipment.
  • Work at elevated heights or confined spaces.
  • Drive a motor vehicle or commercial vehicle requiring a valid driver’s license.
  • Comply with all company safety policies and procedures, including a zero-tolerance drug and alcohol policy.
  • Subject to pre-employment, random, post-incident, and reasonable suspicion drug and alcohol testing.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate degree in automotive technical field, Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) Certification, or equivalent years of related field experience preferred.
  • Five (5) years’ experience in auto repair, truck body, oil and gas, and electrical/hydraulic experience preferred.
  • Occasional overtime/on-call service as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Safely operate and maintain a Curry Supply mechanics truck.
  • Maintain and repair on-road heavy trucks and equipment using service manuals and proper troubleshooting techniques.
  • Diagnose technical problems and determine proper corrective actions.
  • Troubleshoot to identify and isolate failed equipment components.
  • Conduct hydraulic pressure testing.
  • Complete hydraulic and electrical diagnostic repairs.
  • Repair hydraulic, electrical and crane equipment.
  • Replace compressor components.
  • Maintain and document accurate service reports.
  • Manage customer feedback and address complaints.
  • Build positive relationships with customers and resolve challenges in a professional manner.
  • Travel on overnight trips.
  • Abide by current laws and organizational policies and procedures designed and implemented to promote an environment which is free of harassment and other forms of illegal discriminatory behavior in the workplace.
  • Cooperate with, participate in, and support the adherence to all internal policies, procedures, and practices in support of risk management and overall safety and soundness and the company’s compliance with all regulatory requirements.
  • Report pertinent information to the immediate supervisor as requested, or according to an established schedule; compile information as necessary or as directed and provide data to appropriate personnel.
  • Respond to inquiries relating to his/her particular area, or to requests from customers, other personnel, etc., within given time frames and within established policy.
