About The Position

Custom Truck One Source (CTOS) is seeking a Field Service Mechanic to diagnose and repair specialized utility equipment. This role involves working on a variety of vehicles including bucket trucks, digger derricks, cranes, and service trucks. The mechanic will perform inspections, troubleshooting, parts replacement, and repairs on rental, customer, and company units in the field. CTOS provides a fully equipped utility truck, including a crane, welder, and compressor. The ideal candidate will have their own tools, a valid driver's license, a good driving record, and be willing to work overtime and travel as needed.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Five years of related experience. (Shop Tech and Field Tech)
  • Must hold a valid driver’s license.
  • Must have your own tools.
  • Proficient in documentation using software, meeting deadlines and schedules.
  • Ability to regularly work in outside weather conditions, including wet and/or humid conditions.
  • The employee is occasionally exposed to extreme cold, and extreme heat.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
  • Positive attitude, professionalism, Punctual attendance.
  • Physical capability for lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling.
  • The ability to bend, stoop, and lift, up to 50 lbs.
  • Comfort with heights and manual labor.
  • Manual dexterity for operating tools and equipment.
  • Must have the ability to utilize laptop, etc. to be able to access needed information and perform diagnostic tests.
  • Experience troubleshooting and repair of Utility trucks & Equipment including electrical and hydraulics.

Nice To Haves

  • CDL Class B preferred.
  • Electrical, schematic / blueprints, hydraulic, welding, and related experience
  • Experience with Quick Serve, DTNA, or related diagnostic software.
  • DOT, ANSI, and Dielectric testing desired

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the field expert diagnosing and repairing specialized utility equipment
  • Work on bucket trucks, digger derricks, cranes, service trucks, and related equipment
  • Diagnose, repair, and maintain aerial, construction, and light/heavy-duty truck systems
  • Perform inspections, troubleshooting, parts replacement, and repairs on rental, customer, and company units.
  • Perform vehicle troubleshooting, repair and maintenance work on chassis and track mounted aerials, digger derricks, cranes, high rail, and other equipment, in accordance with dealer and factory standards, in the field.
  • Read and interpret equipment manuals and repair orders/instructions to perform required maintenance and service.
  • Perform work as outlined in work instructions set forth by Service Manager; efficiently, accurately, and in accordance with Custom Truck One Source standards.
  • Diagnosis and repair LMI Diagnostics (Load Moment Indicator) and CAN bus (Controller Area Network)
  • Inspects and services vehicles and makes repairs and adjustments both at the service center and in the field.
  • Verify work performed, road test vehicles as necessary.
  • Prepare inspection reports, repair orders (recording service time and parts costs) and timecards completely and accurately.
  • Tag all warranty and core parts for return.
  • Advises management immediately if additional work is needed, if work outlined is not needed, or if repairs cannot be completed within the time promised.
  • Attends CTOS safety training and follows all safety requirements.
  • Attends CTOS and factory -sponsored training classes.
  • Understand and follow federal, state and local regulations such as those governing the disposal of hazardous wastes.
  • Communicate easily with customers and internal departments to ensure minimal equipment downtime.
  • Flexibility to travel beyond the area of coverage, based on business need.
  • Work closely with Service Manager to grow and improve customer satisfaction.
  • Additional duties or responsibilities as designated by the Service Manager.
