The Field Service Engineer is a remote field-based position with daily travel to customer locations within the assigned territory. Ideal candidates will reside within a 30-mile radius of where the position is based. A company vehicle is provided. 5% overnight travel is possible and a valid driver’s license is required. The role involves providing remote and on-site technical support for BD Pyxis automated dispensing systems located within hospitals and other healthcare facilities within the region and in accordance with customer support agreements, including DHA/DoD facilities. This includes responding to, evaluating, and prioritizing work orders; diagnosing, servicing, and resolving issues regarding proprietary hardware and software system components. The engineer will retain ownership of the work order, escalate issues to the team lead and manager, and log, track, and document all work order activity. The position requires the ability to fully support all products within the region, implement a preventive maintenance program, and provide limited multi-functional support for Sales and Implementation teams. A moderate use of competency and appropriate ability to solve hardware and software problems is expected. Efficient field services must be provided to all BD customers in a timely manner, including installations, in-servicing, repair, preventive maintenance, calibration, and sales support. Proper and accurate small parts inventory must be maintained for service purposes, following approved policies and procedures for inventory controls. Accurate and timely documentation detailing field activity, expenses, time distribution, and other required information is necessary. Continuous training and self-development are expected to learn company products and applications for success in the role, advance skills, and attend management-approved seminars and training sessions to advance to the next level in 2-3 years. Company assets (car, tools, and inventories) must be maintained securely and in working order. A solid understanding of corporate and service department procedures and policies, including customer complaint handling and Medical Device Reporting, is required. The ability to work independently and in a team environment, and to engage/escalate to team leadership for sophisticated problem-solving and resolution of issues as needed, is also necessary.
