Requirements

  • Associate’s degree or Technical School equivalent, applicable equivalent military experience will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues efficiently.
  • Collaboration with sales representatives and service team members.
  • Valid state-issued driver’s license with a clean driving record.
  • Ability to travel up to 50%, including occasional overnight stays based on business needs.
  • Ability to drive distances of up to 6 hours within a given day, and in adverse weather conditions.
  • Valid state-issued driver’s license with at least 3 years of driving history, meeting BD’s auto safety standards.
  • Flexible working hours throughout the week, traveling to various customer locations.
  • Lifting requirements - Ability to lift objects weighing up to 30-40 lbs. from the floor to chest level.
  • Ability to push and pull objects weighing up to 70 lbs.
  • The ability to carry a pack weighing up to 30 lb. on your back for up to 1 hour.
  • Tool Use - Proficient in operating powered drills, screwdrivers, and saws.
  • Capable of using manual sockets, crescent wrenches, and screwdrivers for extended periods, typically 8 to 10 hours a day.
  • Ability to sit, kneel, squat, bend, and stand repeatedly in a 8–10-hour period to assemble and repair instrument suites.
  • Able to climb and lift portable ladders and step stools.
  • Ability to perform fine motor tasks while reaching over an 8–10-hour day.
  • May be required to wear a respirator while servicing equipment, thus must be able to pass a fit test and annual spirometry.

Nice To Haves

  • Diagnosing and repairing medical devices, electromechanical equipment, or scientific instruments.
  • Previous experience in diagnosing and repairing medical devices, electromechanical equipment, or scientific instruments is a plus.
  • Bachelor of Science in a related field preferred
  • Field Service Engineering and/or Networking/IT System Upgrades.
  • Experience in a lab or hospital environment.

Responsibilities

  • Installation & Maintenance: Provide support for installation, maintenance, modification, and repair of mechanical, electromechanical, and software-based instruments. Tasks include installation, repair, calibration, cleaning, and testing of instruments.
  • Customer Relations: Build and maintain positive relationships with customers, review solutions, discuss needs, and ensure safe operational conditions.
  • Sales Support: Actively support the sale of service contracts, collaborate with sales representatives and service team members on system configurations, upgrades, installations, and moves. Provide feedback to improve financial performance and generate service revenue.
  • Documentation: Complete service administration activities promptly, adhering to ISO, FDA, and BD policies.
