About The Position

OWT Global is seeking a Field Service Engineer (FSE) to join their FIST Team (Fielding, Integration, Service, and Training). This role provides technical expertise focused on IT heavy systems support, network infrastructure, server management, and rapid field integration for advanced mission systems at both Continental United States (CONUS) and Outside the Continental United States (OCONUS) locations. The position emphasizes practical, hands-on IT and networking skills in smaller, dynamic environments where the FSE must execute tasks efficiently and transition quickly to follow-on requirements. The successful candidate will serve as a subject matter expert for the installation, configuration, troubleshooting, and sustainment of networked systems, servers, Cisco based infrastructure, fiber optics, power distribution, and related hardware/software supporting fielded capabilities. The FSE is not an operator role; the focus is on ensuring reliable power, networking, and IT infrastructure so that systems remain mission ready. The position involves 25-75% travel (with a goal of less than 50%), including potential tower work and generalist tasks as needed. The successful candidate will work closely with government stakeholders, military end users, and industry partners to ensure mission readiness and system performance in dynamic operational environments.

Requirements

  • Extensive experience working in or around a military environment.
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Networking, Electronics, Electrical Engineering, or related technical field (or equivalent military training/experience).
  • Minimum 3 years of hands on experience with networking, server management, Cisco equipment, and/or fiber optic systems in field or deployed environments.
  • Proven ability to install, configure, and troubleshoot complex network and server systems quickly in austere or small-scale environments.
  • Strong working knowledge of power systems, networking fundamentals (LAN/WAN), fiber optics, and Linux/Windows server environments.
  • Familiarity with Cisco networking equipment (switches, routers, firewalls) and related configuration/management tools.
  • Strong analytical, problem solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team, executing IT tasks efficiently and moving on to subsequent priorities.
  • Willingness to travel 25–75% (goal of less than 50%), including to remote or OCONUS sites as mission requires.
  • Current passport or the ability to obtain one.
  • Ability to meet European Contractor Online Processing System (ECOPS) requirements (as applicable).
  • Active DoD security clearance at the Secret or higher level.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and comfort working at heights / climbing towers or elevated structures.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience teaching or presenting highly technical concepts to military personnel, including high-ranking officials (Colonels and above) and government stakeholders.
  • Strong public speaking and presentation skills.
  • Prior military experience (preferred MOS/AFSC in communications, networking, IT, electronics, or related fields).
  • CompTIA or equivalent technical certifications (Network+, Security+, A+, CCNA, or similar).
  • Hands-on experience with fiber optic installation, termination, testing (OTDR, power meters), and cable plant management.
  • Experience supporting smaller, non enterprise environments where rapid task execution and multi role support are required.
  • Familiarity with data collection for Government Acceptance Test Plans (GATP) or operational assessments.
  • Willingness to accept short duration operational deployments to various OCONUS locations in support of mission objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Perform comprehensive site surveys focused on network infrastructure, power availability, fiber optic pathways, line of sight assessments for wireless links, and evaluation of existing IT and structural infrastructure to ensure optimal system placement and performance.
  • Install, configure, and maintain networking hardware, servers, Cisco switches/routers, fiber optic systems, and associated power distribution equipment at CONUS and OCONUS sites.
  • Execute rapid IT tasks including server builds, network configuration, cable plant installation/termination, and system integration, then efficiently transition to subsequent field requirements.
  • Perform system diagnostics, fault isolation, and corrective actions on network, server, and power-related issues to sustain operational readiness.
  • Conduct preventive and corrective maintenance in accordance with technical manuals, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and manufacturer specifications.
  • Support field testing, data collection, and system evaluations for performance verification, acceptance testing, and integration with broader mission networks.
  • Train military and civilian personnel on network setup, basic troubleshooting, and sustainment of IT infrastructure (when required).
  • Provide detailed technical reports, maintenance logs, and after action summaries to government leads and program management.
  • Coordinate with engineering teams to implement software/firmware updates, configuration changes, and hardware upgrades.
  • Support system integration with base defense networks, tactical sensor networks, and enterprise IT environments.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable safety, security, cybersecurity, and operational standards.
  • Perform generalist tasks as needed, including tower climbing, antenna/cable work, and support for related field infrastructure.

Benefits

  • Comprehensive Health, Dental, and Vision insurance coverage.
  • Short-Term and Long-Term Disability, Life Insurance, and Workers’ Compensation protection.
  • Traditional and Roth 401(k) retirement plan options with company matching.
  • Generous Paid Time Off (PTO) and Holiday Pay.
