About The Position

Teledyne FLIR Defense is seeking a Field Service/Support Engineer to service, troubleshoot, repair, and perform preventative maintenance on Teledyne FLIR Detection instruments. This role involves installation and training, both domestically and internationally, at customer sites. The engineer will be responsible for managing product support, documenting solutions, and participating in ongoing training. The position requires a strong understanding of Gas Chromatography/Mass Spectrometry (GC/MS) and Bio instruments, as well as complex electro-mechanical systems.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical/Electronic Engineering Technology (BSEET) degree; or Associates of Science in Electrical/Electronic Engineering Technology (ASEET) and 2 years of directly relevant work experience; or Master of Science degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, etc; and 3+ years of work experience with GC/MS instruments preferred.
  • Proven experience required in the assembly and/or repair of: Surface mount components, Printed circuit boards from engineering drawings, Cable assemblies and harnesses from engineering drawings, Vacuum lines and tubing, Complex electro-mechanical instruments.
  • Ability to read and understand electrical schematics and mechanical assembly drawings.
  • Strong customer service orientation/skills.
  • Ability to effectively communicate and interact with team members and customers.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • High energy, proactive orientation.
  • Ability to lift up to 80 pounds.
  • Applicants must be either a U.S. citizen, U.S. national, legal permanent resident, asylee, refugee or must be eligible to apply for and obtain the appropriate export control license from the U.S. Departments of State or Commerce.

Responsibilities

  • Perform installation of Teledyne FLIR hardware and software in the field.
  • Provide training on the use of product hardware and software both at Teledyne FLIR and in the field.
  • Troubleshoot and repair Gas Chromatography/Mass Spectrometry (GC/MS) and Bio instruments both at Teledyne FLIR and in the field.
  • Manage and resolve incoming product support inquiries in a professional, pleasant, and responsive manner.
  • Document appropriate questions, techniques, and solutions in the product knowledge base (JIRA program or formal documentation).
  • Participate in ongoing internal training programs.
