About The Position

Applied Materials is a global leader in materials science and engineering solutions, essential for new semiconductor chips and advanced displays. This role involves installing, maintaining, and upgrading equipment at customer sites, serving as the direct liaison with customers. The Field Service Engineer will use digital analytics for troubleshooting and apply diagnostic techniques to assess and address technical issues. Responsibilities include performing preventative and corrective maintenance on various systems (electrical, vacuum, mechanical, plasma, hydraulic, and gas) and coordinating with customers to ensure smooth operations and exceptional service. Requirements

  • Completion of an Associate degree or Bachelors Degree
  • Experience using hand tools, power tools, diagnostic equipment, or digital multimeters
  • Strong mechanical and technical aptitude.
  • Ability to read and follow technical documentation and procedures.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to obtain a passport for business travel.
  • Ability to meet customer site safety and environmental requirements.

  • Internship, co-op, research, or project experience involving mechanical, electrical, vacuum, pneumatic, hydraulic, or manufacturing systems.
  • Exposure to semiconductor, manufacturing, industrial, aerospace, automotive, or similar technical environments.
  • Experience gained through internships, laboratory work, engineering projects, co-op programs, or other hands-on technical experiences.
  • Demonstrated leadership through student organizations, team projects, athletics, military service, or community involvement.

Responsibilities

  • Install, configure, and support Applied Materials equipment at customer sites.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical, electrical, and system-related issues with support from experienced engineers.
  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on advanced semiconductor manufacturing equipment.
  • Work alongside senior engineers during equipment installations, upgrades, and customer projects.
  • Build strong relationships with customers by providing professional technical support and service.
  • Document service activities and communicate project updates to customers and internal teams.
  • Follow all safety, quality, and environmental procedures.
  • Continuously develop technical knowledge through hands-on experience, training programs, and mentorship.
