About The Position

Program Management Solutions is seeking a Field Service Engineer to support the operational readiness and effectiveness of deployed military medical units. This remote position involves extensive travel and requires an active DoD Secret clearance, or the ability to obtain one as stated in the position overview; the minimum qualifications also state that an active clearance is required. The engineer supports deployment, configuration, and sustainment of personnel, equipment, and IM/IT systems in dynamic, austere, or combat environments. The role combines technical support, logistics, and knowledge of military deployment procedures and healthcare operations in theater. Responsibilities include deploying and redeploying systems, troubleshooting EHRs and web-based medical applications, training users, participating in the system development lifecycle, maintaining cybersecurity and privacy compliance, and coordinating equipment logistics. The position requires at least five years of hands-on experience supporting DoD EHRs and web-based medical applications in garrison and deployed settings, IAT Level II certification, a valid U.S. passport, and willingness to travel internationally up to 75% of the time, sometimes on short notice, for assignments of up to 90 days. Candidates must meet medical and fitness standards for deployment to austere and potentially hazardous environments.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of hands-on experience supporting DoD electronic health records and web-based medical applications in both garrison and deployed settings.
  • Knowledge of the functional clinical workflows and technical systems architecture and integration aspects of these applications.
  • Strong experience in all SDLC phases, including system design, development, integration, and control, as well as user testing and post-deployment support.
  • Deep understanding of privacy protection principles and HIPAA compliance, particularly for data flow and interoperability in integrated health systems.
  • Minimum IAT Level II certification under DoD 8570.01-M, such as Security+.
  • Ability to work independently in high-pressure, fast-paced environments with minimal oversight.
  • Strong problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Valid U.S. passport and willingness to travel internationally up to 75% of the time, often on short notice, for assignments of up to 90 days.
  • Must meet medical and fitness standards for deployment to austere and potentially hazardous environments.
  • Active DoD Secret clearance is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Direct experience supporting healthcare delivery in military operational environments, such as field and combat support hospitals, Expeditionary Medical Facilities, amphibious assault ships or hospital ships, aeromedical evacuation missions, or mobile medical units.
  • Prior military service or experience working closely with Service members across the Army, Navy, Air Force, or Marine Corps.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and execute deployment and redeployment of IM/IT systems for joint operational missions, including initial setup, software installation, configuration, and operational testing in theater.
  • Provide on-the-ground troubleshooting and Tier II/III support for EHR systems and web-based medical applications to minimize disruption to clinical workflows.
  • Deliver just-in-time training and technical guidance to clinical, administrative, and technical personnel.
  • Participate in the full SDLC, including requirements gathering and analysis, design, integration, validation, and ongoing maintenance of medical IT solutions.
  • Ensure adherence to DoD cybersecurity requirements and privacy regulations when handling sensitive personal health information in connected and disconnected environments.
  • Coordinate secure and timely transportation, installation, and inventory management of hardware and software assets across operational areas.
