About The Position

As a Field Service Engineer, your primary mission is keeping Dexterity’s robotic systems running at peak performance in live customer warehouse environments. This role is focused on hands-on field servicing, preventive maintenance, physical retrofits, and rapid hardware/software troubleshooting. You will be the primary technical point of contact on the shop floor during deployments and service calls, ensuring physical AI systems remain reliable, operational, and capable of hitting customer performance goals.

Requirements

  • BS or AAS in an engineering discipline related to robotics (CS, EE, ME, Mechatronics, etc.) or equivalent practical field service experience.
  • Proven experience performing mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic repairs on automated or industrial control systems using hand tools, power tools, and electrical test equipment.
  • Comfort navigating Linux/UNIX command line (CLI), analyzing system logs, and basic networking troubleshooting.
  • Strong sense of urgency in high-stakes production environments, with a "whatever it takes" attitude to restore system uptime safely.
  • Ability to communicate technical issues clearly to both non-technical site operators and HQ engineering teams.

Nice To Haves

  • Hands-on experience servicing warehouse automation, industrial robotics, or material handling equipment.
  • Basic software scripting or troubleshooting experience (Python, Linux, GitHub).
  • Knowledge of network engineering, IT infrastructure, or industrial communications.
  • Ability to read and navigate 3D CAD models/drawings (Solidworks, NX).
  • Experience using ticketing and field service management tools (Jira, Zendesk, Google Suite).

Responsibilities

  • Execute hands-on field repairs, preventive maintenance, component replacements, and system upgrades on production robotic systems.
  • Perform root-cause analysis (RCA) on failing physical hardware, mechanical assemblies, pneumatics, sensors, and electrical control circuits using multimeters and oscilloscopes.
  • Use Linux/UNIX command line interfaces (CLI), networking diagnostics, and trace/debug logs directly on customer sites to diagnose and resolve operational anomalies.
  • Lead hardware installation, software commissioning with specialized tooling, testing, and calibration during new system rollouts.
  • Assist in RCAs on failed production components, log ticket updates, manage spare parts inventories, and refurbish components following repair protocols.
  • Execute escalation playbooks to resolve critical outages rapidly, supporting internal and offshore operations teams to hit Dexterity SLAs.
  • Act as the technical face of Dexterity on site, training customer personnel, operators, and external partners on proper handling, basic troubleshooting, and maintenance protocols.
  • Deliver clear field documentation, ticket logs, and actionable issue trends back to HQ engineering to improve future product serviceability and design.
