About The Position

This role involves testing mechanical products and equipment after repair or modification to ensure proper performance and compliance with manufacturer’s specifications. The Field Service Engineer will repair and replace damaged or worn parts, operate and inspect machines or heavy equipment to diagnose defects, and dismantle and reassemble heavy equipment using hoists and hand tools. Routine maintenance such as cleaning and lubricating equipment will also be performed. The position requires the ability to read, understand, and interpret operating manuals, parts manuals, blueprints, and technical drawings. The engineer will overhaul and test machines or equipment to ensure operating efficiency, and use test instruments to diagnose malfunctions in defective equipment. They will also inspect and verify dimensions and clearances of parts to ensure conformance to factory specifications. The role includes completing assigned paperwork, overseeing the maintenance of quality standards through visual and mechanical inspection methods, and promoting a safe work environment by ensuring adherence to established safety procedures. Responsibilities also include overseeing the handling and disposing of hazardous wastes and successfully completing factory-authorized training. A working knowledge of Crane Management software is expected. Job preparation involves checking parts and drawings for accuracy and completeness, and the ability to complete jobs independently with little assistance. The engineer will properly fill out working reports, hour’s reports, timesheets, hour’s overviews, and expense reports. Assisting customers with troubleshooting and part-related questions, attending training sessions, and maintaining a minimum set of tools are also key duties. The role requires caring for and maintaining company tools, machines, and equipment, maintaining a positive attitude, and serving as a role model. Maintaining company service literature and a high awareness of technical changes is important. The engineer may temporarily assume the lead person position and train or mentor others in the department.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or GED.
  • At least 5+ years direct experience with Liebherr Port Equipment as a technician.
  • Travel domestically and internationally up to 80% of the time.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a valid driver license and passport.
  • Ability to work overtime as well as on weekends or on call duty.

  • Oversees the maintenance of quality standards through visual and mechanical inspection methods.
  • Promotes a safe work environment by ensuring the group and self-follow established safety procedures.
  • Oversees the handling and disposing of hazardous wastes, such as toner, oil, antifreeze, transmission fluid, auto parts cleaner, and similar material.
  • Successfully complete factory authorized training.
  • Demonstrate working knowledge of Crane Management software.
  • Prepare for jobs by checking parts and drawings for accuracy and completeness.
  • Complete jobs independently with little assistance from others.
  • Properly fill out working reports, hour’s reports, timesheets, hour’s overviews and expense reports.
  • Assist customers with troubleshooting and part related questions when needed.
  • Attends training sessions as required.
  • Maintains a minimum set of tools required for job performance.
  • Cares and maintains company tools, machines and equipment.
