About The Position

At ABB, we help industries run leaner and cleaner. This position reports to the Field Service Manager. In this role, you will execute service work according to work instructions and ABB's quality and safety guidelines. You will deliver quality customer service by planning and executing service work as per customer order and expectation. You will also ensure customer retention by effectively communicating service work timelines and expectations. The work model for the role is remote. This role contributes to the Automation, Marine & Ports Division and can be located in either Miramar, FL or Houston, TX.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree or foreign equivalent degree in engineering or other technical field and minimum 2 years of experience in marine field service.
  • Alternately a special combination of education and experience and/or demonstrated accomplishments.
  • Must be capable and comfortable working within confined spaces to include but not limited to vessels, propulsion systems, Cofferdams, etc.
  • Up to 85% travel required (domestic and international, includes weekends and holidays).
  • Must be able to read, interpret, and design technical drawings and schematics utilizing computer design software

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree Marine, Mechanical, Electrical engineering, or similar field preferred.
  • 5 years of experience in the marine field service preferred.
  • Familiarity with marine/offshore work environment and procedures preferred.
  • Familiarity with shipyard dry docking activities preferred.
  • Knowledge of marine propulsion, power generation and power distribution preferred.
  • Knowledge of marine steering systems (hydraulic & electrical) preferred.
  • Experience with confine space entry, work environment preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Working with the customer (while on-site) to identify opportunities to improve the customer’s operations and eliminate pain points.
  • Performing field service tasks, identifying technical issues, and performing analysis through remote or on-site activity in service categories and products for which they are certified to perform.
  • Preparing material lists needed for service activity and ensuring that all materials, parts, and equipment are available and of appropriate quality for service activities.
  • Acting as trainer when needed, for field service associates and customers.
