Based on product and customer requirements, and under the direction of the Product Manager, the Field Service Engineer performs specialized field service activities on paper machinery and related equipment. This role holds overall responsibility for assigned service projects, including execution of customer orders, equipment service and optimization, and support of product design and development. The position requires close collaboration with customers, external contractors, and internal ANDRITZ departments to ensure projects are completed accurately, on time, and within budget. Primary responsibilities include installation supervision, equipment inspection, specialized repair of ceramic products, precision alignment services, 3D scanning, and equipment layout development.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree or higher in Drafting, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or similar
  • Experience in field service, industrial equipment, or mechanical systems
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD and/or Inventor
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and customer-facing experience
  • Ability to travel 30–50% as required

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with laser alignment and precision measurement tools
  • Familiarity with 3D scanning technologies
  • Knowledge of ceramic or wear-component applications
  • Experience in paper machinery or heavy industrial environments

Responsibilities

  • Perform installation supervision, inspection, troubleshooting, and repair of ANDRITZ equipment
  • Execute precision alignment, 3D scanning, and equipment evaluations
  • Perform specialized repair of ceramic components and wear products
  • Serve as the primary technical contact for customers during assigned projects
  • Prepare detailed field service reports with observations and recommendations
  • Travel 30–50% to customer sites across North America
  • Develop equipment layouts and system designs using AutoCAD and Inventor
  • Perform on-site measurements using traditional tools and 3D scanning technology
  • Produce manufacturing drawings in accordance with ANDRITZ standards
  • Support selection and application of purchased components
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Technology, and Manufacturing teams to optimize design performance and manufacturability
  • Coordinate with Sales, Purchasing, and Manufacturing to meet project timelines and deliverables
  • Verify that products meet design and quality requirements
  • Troubleshoot deviations from specifications and implement corrective actions
  • Support manufacturing, assembly, and quality assurance of ceramic wear components
  • Document processes and procedures to ensure consistent execution of future projects
  • Maintain accurate records of project activities and technical data
  • Participate in design or scope decisions based on operational requirements
  • Ensure compliance with all ANDRITZ safety, quality, and company standards
