About The Position

The Field Service Engineer II for Leica Biosystems is responsible for independently delivering installation, preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair support for Leica Biosystems diagnostic solutions. This role applies advanced technical expertise to resolve complex customer and instrument challenges, drive optimal instrument performance, maximize customer uptime, and support reliable diagnostic workflows. This position is part of the Service Organization and will work remotely within the assigned territory. You will be a part of the Field Service Team and report to the Regional Field Service Manager responsible for ensuring optimal instrument performance, maximizing customer uptime, resolving complex customer challenges, and supporting service excellence across the territory.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree with 3+ years of field service experience or related field OR Bachelor’s Degree in Science with 1+ year of experience or related field OR equivalent military experience (working on any mechanical, technical, laboratory, pneumatic or any related instruments.)
  • Demonstrated experience troubleshooting and repairing complex mechanical, electromechanical, electronic, laboratory, medical device, or instrumentation systems.
  • Ability to work independently across customer sites, manage competing priorities, communicate technical information effectively, and drive customer satisfaction, instrument performance, and uptime.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record
  • Ability to regularly lift, move, slide, raise and/or place up to 50 lbs. unassisted.
  • Ability to stand, walk (prolonged), and sit; squat and kneel, ascend and descend stairs; reach with hands and arms.

Nice To Haves

  • Supporting histology, pathology, clinical diagnostics, medical device, biomedical, laboratory, or scientific instrumentation environments.
  • Experience supporting complex diagnostic instruments, laboratory automation, advanced electromechanical systems, or other customer-facing technical environments.
  • Coaching peers, supporting customer training, supporting technical escalations, or helping drive resolution of complex service challenges.

Responsibilities

  • Independently diagnose, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain Leica Biosystems diagnostic solutions, applying advanced technical expertise to resolve complex customer and instrument challenges.
  • Manage service execution within the assigned territory, prioritizing customer needs, identifying root causes, implementing effective solutions, and ensuring optimal instrument performance, customer uptime, and compliance with Leica Biosystems quality standards.
  • Serve as a technical resource to customers and less experienced Field Service Engineers by supporting escalations, sharing expertise, identifying recurring issues and trends, and partnering with technical support, applications, commercial, and service leadership to implement sustainable solutions and improve customer outcomes.
