About The Position

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Outside Plant (OSP) Fiber Optic Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years of hands-on experience in fiber optic installation, splicing, testing, and maintenance within outside plant environments. A strong understanding of fiber optic theory and in-depth knowledge of fiber optic test and verification equipment is essential. BICSI certifications are required. Performing fiber optic cable installation, splicing, terminations, and testing in aerial, underground and Data Center environments Operating, maintaining, and interpreting results from optical test equipment including OTDRs, light source/power meters, and fiber inspection scopes Conducting site surveys, document field conditions, and providing input for design and engineering teams Interpreting and working from engineering prints, schematics, and splice diagrams Troubleshooting fiber optic systems and perform emergency restoration work when necessary Maintaining detailed records of work performed, including test results and cable routing Ensuring compliance with safety protocols and industry standards Collaborating with project managers, engineers, and other field personnel to ensure timely completion of work Traveling between 50% to 75% to specific CONUS and OCONUS locations

Requirements

  • TS/SCI clearance
  • 5+ years of experience in outside plant fiber optic installation and maintenance
  • BICSI certified technician (such as Installer 2, Technician, or OSP Specialist)
  • Expert knowledge of fiber optic theory, including attenuation, dispersion, connector types, and fiber types (SM/MM)
  • Proven experience using and interpreting results from Optical Time-Domain Reflectometer (OTDR), power meter/light source, and fiber inspection tools
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team
  • Excellent documentation and communication skills
  • U.S. CITIZENSHIP

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with GIS mapping or fiber management software
  • Knowledge of construction permitting and right-of-way procedures
  • Experience working in federal or secure environments

Responsibilities
