About The Position

As a Field Service Engineer I – Process Controls at Honeywell, you will play a key role in providing technical support and field service to customers, ensuring the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of their process automation and control systems. You will work closely with customers and experienced Honeywell engineers to troubleshoot, maintain, commission, and support process control and instrumentation systems in industrial environments. You will report directly to our Field Service Manager and work out of our Midland, TX location with a field-based/remote work schedule and significant travel to customer sites. In this role, you will impact customer satisfaction and operational excellence by delivering timely and effective field service solutions, supporting process control and instrumentation systems, and collaborating with customers, project teams, and engineering to address technical needs.

Requirements

Minimum of 2 years of experience in field service, instrumentation, electrical, automation, process controls, industrial maintenance, or a related technical field.
Basic knowledge of process instrumentation and control systems, including pressure, temperature, flow, level, analytical instruments, and control valves.
Experience troubleshooting electrical, instrumentation, automation, or control system equipment.
Familiarity with PLC, DCS, HMI, or SCADA systems and basic control system concepts.
Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, loop drawings, and technical documentation.
Experience or exposure to commissioning, startup, calibration, loop checks, preventive maintenance, or functional testing.
Ability and willingness to travel extensively to customer sites and work in industrial environments.
Strong commitment to safety and ability to follow customer and Honeywell safety procedures.

Nice To Haves

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Instrumentation, Automation, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a related technical discipline.
Associate degree, technical certification, military training, or equivalent hands-on experience in instrumentation, electrical, automation, process controls, networking, or information technology.
Candidates with a strong background in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Networking, or Windows environments with experience supporting SCADA, Operational Technology (OT), or Information Technology (IT) systems may also be considered.
Experience supporting or troubleshooting SCADA, OT/IT infrastructure, industrial networks, Windows-based systems, servers, workstations, or industrial communication systems is highly valued.
Experience with Honeywell Experion, ControlEdge, Allen-Bradley/Rockwell, Siemens, Emerson DeltaV, Schneider, Yokogawa, ABB, or similar control platforms.
Familiarity with industrial communication protocols such as Modbus, Ethernet/IP, HART, Foundation Fieldbus, Profibus, OPC, or TCP/IP.
Experience with calibration and troubleshooting of pressure, temperature, flow, level, analytical instruments, transmitters, and control valves.
Experience working in oil & gas, petrochemical, refining, chemical, power generation, manufacturing, or other process industries.
Familiarity with industrial networking, cybersecurity, OT/IT integration, and Windows-based control environments.
Ability to work independently, learn new technologies quickly, and manage multiple service assignments.
Strong communication and customer service skills with the ability to interact professionally with customers and field teams.
ISA, NCCER, networking, cybersecurity, or other industrial/technical certifications are a plus.

Responsibilities

Provide on-site and remote technical support for installation, startup, commissioning, maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting of process control and instrumentation systems.
Assist with troubleshooting PLC, DCS, HMI, SCADA, instrumentation, control valves, transmitters, and related process control equipment.
Perform loop checks, point-to-point verification, functional testing, calibration, and system diagnostics to ensure proper operation of control systems.
Read and interpret P&IDs, electrical schematics, loop drawings, wiring diagrams, instrument indexes, and control documentation.
Support the installation, configuration, replacement, and maintenance of process instrumentation and control system hardware.
Collaborate with customers, project managers, engineers, and technicians to identify and resolve technical issues.
Assist with startup and commissioning activities at customer sites and provide technical support throughout service assignments.
Document service activities, troubleshooting findings, equipment conditions, and recommendations in service reports.
Follow all Honeywell and customer safety requirements while working in industrial and field environments.
Develop technical knowledge through hands-on field experience, training, and mentoring from experienced engineers and technicians.
