About The Position

This role is a hybrid shop/field position requiring both work in the shop and field depending on customer needs. The Field Service Diesel Technician will act as the primary customer support contact to diagnose and execute complex repairs on engine products at the customer’s site. This position is subject to Federal Transit Administration random and pre-employment drug testing requirements and ongoing random drug and alcohol testing. Additionally, this role will be subject to Department of Transportation (DOT) driving regulations including Hours of Service and Electronic Log Booking Device use.

Requirements

• Completes complex internal engine repairs
• Detailed understanding of the aftertreatment system and components
• Proficient experience with engine diagnostic software
• Experience with Chassis work (Brakes, suspension, steering, etc.)
• Significant field service work experience
• Expert level knowledge of and/or experience with engine products
• Customer service experience
• Locally valid driving permit

Nice To Haves

• Performs complex unassisted engine overhauls
• Experience providing technical advice and coaching to more junior technicians
• Apprentice Trained Engine Technician
• Vocational diploma from relevant technical institution
• A CDL may be required to obtain upon hire
• A current valid license is required for this role
• This role requires a 5 year motor vehicle report, free from major violations
• This role requires applicant to pass a Department of Transportation (DOT) physical
• 3 years driving experience

Responsibilities

• Completes complex internal engine repairs
• Performs complex unassisted engine overhauls
• Ability to troubleshoot with limited/no support from diagnostic tools
• Detailed understanding of the aftertreatment system and components
• Mentor junior technicians including technical support and documentation
• Complete repairs on engine products in a service shop
• Perform maintenance/repairs utilizing diagnostic tools
• Maintain detailed records of serviced vehicles
• Adhere to Cummins Health, Safety & Environmental policies
• Ongoing development/certifications on new and existing Cummins products
• Maintain own tools
