About The Position

The Field Scout is responsible for managing assigned crop areas to achieve and exceed yield and quality targets. This role requires a strong understanding of field crop agronomy to anticipate and mitigate potential issues, and to optimize results using leading-edge IPM practices for cost, quality, and yield. The Field Scout must also ensure compliance with safety protocols, complete all required training, and administer programs as directed by their manager. All tasks must be accomplished on time, with a high level of detail, and in accordance with established protocols, including contracting, planting, mowing, GA, fungicides, helicoptering, harvest, routing, and data entry. The role demands adherence to published production protocols and work instructions for all operations, with accurate and timely documentation of all processes and information. The Field Scout will utilize reports to aid in planning and scheduling field activities.

  • Previous experience with hybrid rice production.
  • Superior agronomy skills to complete crop production.
  • Mechanical aptitude to work with field equipment.
  • Strong analytical approach to work.
  • GPS/GIS applications skills and developing statistical capability.

Responsibilities

  • Manage crop in assigned areas to achieve and exceed yield and quality targets.
  • Give attention to field crop agronomy to foresee potential issues and manage and mitigate those impacts.
  • Utilize leading edge IPM practices to optimize results for cost, quality and yield.
  • Comply with safety efforts for all assigned areas and sites, ensure all training is completed, and administer programs as directed by manager.
  • Accomplish all tasks on time, with high level of detail and in accordance with protocols (example, contracting, planting, mowing, GA, fungicides, helicoptering, harvest, routing, and data entry).
  • Ensure all processes are completed following published production protocols and work instructions for all operations.
  • Document all operations and information as required.
  • Ensure data is collected accurately for all operations and is entered in time.
  • Utilize reports to aid in planning and scheduling field activities.
