About The Position

Arcadis is seeking an entry-level Geologist or Environmental Scientist to join their team in Cary, NC or Raleigh, NC. This position involves both field and office work, with an expectation of up to 90% of time spent in the field. The role offers opportunities for mentorship and professional growth within a dedicated team. As part of the Resilience Environment team, the successful candidate will contribute to improving quality of life by assisting in environmental site characterization, investigation, and remediation tasks. The role emphasizes health and safety during fieldwork, which includes regional business travel and potential multi-week travel within the U.S. a few times per year. Incident response recovery (IRR) may also be a component of the fieldwork. The position requires strong communication skills, self-motivation, independent thinking, and the ability to work effectively both independently and in a team setting. Adaptability and creative problem-solving are key attributes for success. The role encompasses task management, data analysis, report preparation, scope preparation, and client communications, alongside fieldwork. Support for regional and National emergency response teams is also a part of the role, which may involve unanticipated travel and work outside standard business hours.

Requirements

Bachelor’s of Science in Geology, Hydrogeology, or closely related field (i.e., environmental science, physical science)
Strong written and oral communication skills
Self-motivated

Ability to work effectively and efficiently in a team setting as well as independently and remotely
Adaptable
Creative problem solvers
Valid driver's license

Nice To Haves

Master of Science degree in Geology or closely related field
Current OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER training

Responsibilities

Assist Project Managers (PMs) and Task Managers (TMs) in planning and executing environmental site characterization, investigation, and remediation tasks.
Oversee drilling for soil sampling and groundwater well installation.
Conduct groundwater sampling.
Provide subcontractor oversight.
Operate and maintain remediation systems.
Conduct vapor intrusion/soil gas surveys.
Prepare subcontracts and oversee the work of subcontractors.
Write and prepare technical reports, work plans, letters, and memoranda.
Conduct field work including soil, groundwater, and/or vapor sampling.
Support regional and National emergency response teams to ensure rapid protection of human health and the environment.
Prepare health & safety plans.
Conduct regulatory file reviews.
Write proposals.
Develop project strategy.
Manage schedules and budgets.
Establish subcontracts.
