The Baker Company is seeking a motivated and results-driven Field Sales Representative - NY/MA/VT to join our team. The NESA Field Sales Representative - is accountable to the Field Sales Manager for: Territory – All of NY except south of 287/east of the Hudson, VT, Massachusetts except inside I-495 and south/east of 95.

Requirements

  • BS degree in the life sciences field, or business, sales and marketing
  • Minimum of 2 years field sales experience, ideally selling laboratory or scientific equipment
  • Required to be in the field 80% of the time
  • Familiar with research institutions and/or hospitals, or prior experience within the research landscape
  • Demonstrated ability to understand technical applications, technical equipment, and then present it to a client
  • Experience in Salesforce
  • High energy level and an understanding of today’s changing selling environment
  • Strong communication, presentation, and negotiating skills
  • Clean driving record
  • Excellent communication skills

Responsibilities

  • Initiating, arranging, and conducting sales activities consistent with sales strategies and marketing plans, and in accordance with sales and marketing policies, practices, and procedures in order to generate maximum sales revenue in defined market territories for each respective principal or manufacturer represented.
  • Reflecting and maintaining the philosophies and service-oriented image of Northeast Scientific Associates within the medical and life sciences community and industry.
  • Planning, developing, and closing sales of laboratory equipment at the user and at the institutional level.
  • Maintaining and developing relationships with existing customers via meetings, telephone calls and Email.
  • Developing and maintaining trusting relationships with the key players at the various manufacturers that NESA represents and balancing your time across the various product lines.
  • Attend training to develop relevant knowledge and skills.
  • Negotiate variations in price, delivery and specifications with managers
  • Review own sales performance, aiming to meet or exceed targets
  • Make every effort to focus on doing-it-right to make sure the customer is happy or satisfied with our units.
  • Provide value to our customers by using Lean tools and concepts to identify and eliminate waste in all forms (scrap/rework, transportation, motion, waiting, inventory, over production, over processing, and under-utilization of people). Uses systemic thinking by seeing processes from end to end and works to challenge the status quo to eliminate the root cause of problems. Is involved in individual and/or team activities that involve using Lean tools and concepts to improve the flow of information and material.
  • Maintaining CRM tools/ databases assigned by each individual manufacturer. To include: entering prospects and new customers, creating and maintaining new opportunities, updating sales / quoting activities with real time date for production and sales estimating. Updating close dates and percentages, quoting as required.
  • Other duties as assigned.
