About The Position

This position manages an established territory with an existing customer base. We are a full line distributor for Pet, Equine, Farm & Home, Lawn & Garden, and Wild Bird product industries. Our top performers view their territories as their own business franchise with unlimited growth and potential. BCI Sales Representatives participate in an outstanding pay for performance compensation plan that is uncapped and includes a beginning salary and commissions. The Sales Representative is expected to perform his/her responsibilities in generating sales, market share, and profitability results for the assigned territory, with appropriate direction. Accomplishment of sales goals, to support overall company objectives is the key measurement for this position. Development of market, customer, and industry knowledge along with further development of technical product knowledge is imperative. Effective utilization and management of internal and external resources is expected including participating and full engagement in corporate training meetings and trade shows.

Requirements

  • Must demonstrate an aptitude and desire to sell and gain market share.
  • Key competencies include interpersonal skills, drive, resilience, teamwork, organization skills and strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Credible persuasive skills are of paramount importance to initiate and close sales.
  • Strong presentation abilities and computer skills essential.
  • Basic technology and Microsoft (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) skills.
  • Applicant must also possess a valid driver's license and proof of insurance.
  • BCI requires a post- offer background check, physical and drug screen and employment is contingent upon satisfactory results.

  • Sales, retail, or product knowledge experience in at least one of our industries is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for sales of multi-industry products in territory assigned, within the framework of BCI policies.
  • Routine face to face meetings of all customers and potential customers as needed to build/maintain necessary rapport to achieve meeting and surpassing budgeted responsibilities.
  • Provides key product and promotional knowledge to account base within the territory.
  • Keeps current territory records concerning activities; communicates timely, accurately and meaningfully with Regional Manager and others as required utilizing computer, voice mail, written and phone communications resources effectively.
  • Regularly updates competitive information happening within territory to Regional Manager.
  • Responsible for knowing available territory markets, market potentials, and keeping current on changes that are taking place in these markets.
  • Demonstrates awareness of importance of building a strong image for self and Company.
  • Conducts self in manner befitting this awareness by maintaining trade and professional relations consistent with the strategic objectives of BCI.
  • Acts as key liaison with vendor representatives in the territory.
  • Participation in company related events, such as sales meetings & trade shows.
  • May require occasional overnight stays.
