About The Position

Harley-Davidson is seeking a Field Sales Manager for the Cleveland/Pittsburgh territory. This role is part of a field-based sales team that works remotely, visiting dealers within a geographic territory, attending events, and industry trade shows. The Field Sales Manager will provide dedicated, in-field support to dealers, focusing on achieving sales targets for motorcycles, parts, accessories, and motor clothes. The goal is to drive sales and profit at dealerships, increase ridership, and enhance customer penetration. Success relies on building strong relationships, credibility, and influence to act as a consultant for dealers on sales, growth, profit opportunities, and areas for improvement. The role requires developing a deep understanding of assigned dealers and collaborating effectively to navigate market changes, capitalize on opportunities, and improve processes.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent Required
  • Typically requires a minimum of 8 years of related experience.
  • Solid understanding of financial measures, forecasting, and other analytical skills.
  • Ability to demonstrate deep understanding of key financial drivers of a Dealer's business, including what best-in-class numbers should look like.
  • Demonstrated ability to meet or exceed aggressive sales performance targets and develop creative solutions to generate results.
  • Retail expertise, negotiation and influencing skills, and ability to communicate are essential.
  • Ability to work and thrive in a team environment with a willingness to support others and maintain a mind-set of winning together.
  • Excellent leadership, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Must possess a valid Driver's License.
  • Candidates must be located in one of the following areas: Pittsburgh, Western Pennsylvania, Northeast Ohio, Northern West Virginia.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and gain buy-in for a strategic market plan with dealers, including retail targets, market reports, trending performance, and market share, addressing growth opportunities and deficiencies.
  • Understand the drivers of growth and profit for dealers and apply leading practices to improve performance metrics.
  • Conduct monthly vehicle forecasting and market plan reviews.
  • Solve dealer problems by leveraging personal experience or by identifying the right support within the organization, requesting Help Chain support as needed for performance, service, marketing, and operational issues.
  • Analyze and review performance metrics regularly and work with dealers to correct course as necessary.
  • Develop training plans for dealers in the defined market and request support for instructor-led training.
  • Enable a two-way feedback loop between dealers and field leadership to resolve issues and risks promptly.
  • Provide constructive feedback and influence dealer performance to drive and sustain improvements.
  • Act as a product expert for H-D products (motorcycle, P&A, GM) and coordinate with retail managers to manage product line performance.
  • Attend HDMC events and support dealer events, district, and region rallies as needed.
