About The Position

Harley-Davidson is seeking a Field Sales Manager to provide dedicated, in-field support to dealers within an assigned geographic territory. This role focuses on achieving sales targets for motorcycles, parts, accessories, and motor clothes. The Field Sales Manager will drive sales and profit at dealerships, aiming to increase ridership and customer penetration. Success hinges on building strong relationships and acting as a consultant to advise dealers on sales, growth, and profit opportunities, as well as areas for improvement. The role involves developing a deep understanding of assigned dealers, collaborating effectively to navigate market changes, capitalize on opportunities, and enhance processes. Candidates must reside in Northwest Ohio, Mid Ohio, Southern Ohio, or Southeastern Indiana.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent Required
  • Typically requires a minimum of 8 years of related experience.
  • Solid understanding of financial measures, forecasting, and other analytical skills.
  • Ability to demonstrate deep understanding of key financial drivers of a Dealer's business, including what best-in-class numbers should look like.
  • Demonstrated ability to meet or exceed aggressive sales performance targets and develop creative solutions to generate results.
  • Retail expertise, negotiation and influencing skills, and ability to communicate are essential to success.
  • Ability to work and thrive in a team environment with a willingness to support others and maintain a mind-set of winning together as a team.
  • Excellent leadership, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Must possess a valid Driver's License.
  • Candidates must be located in Northwest Ohio, Mid Ohio, Southern Ohio, Southeastern Indiana.
  • Must be currently authorized to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and gain buy-in for strategic market plans with dealers, including retail targets, market reports, trending performance, and market share, addressing growth opportunities and deficiencies.
  • Understand the drivers of growth and profit for dealers and apply leading practices to improve performance metrics.
  • Conduct monthly vehicle forecasting and market plan reviews.
  • Solve dealer problems by leveraging personal experience or identifying the right internal support, requesting Help Chain support as needed for performance, service, marketing, and operational issues.
  • Analyze and review performance metrics regularly and work with dealers to correct course as necessary.
  • Develop training plans for dealers in the defined market and request support for instructor-led training.
  • Enable a two-way feedback loop between dealers and Field Leadership to resolve issues and risks promptly.
  • Provide constructive feedback and influence dealer performance to drive and sustain improvements.
  • Act as a product expert for H-D products (motorcycle, P&A, GM) and coordinate with Juneau retail managers to manage product line performance.
  • Attend HDMC events and support dealer events, including district and region rallies, as needed.
  • Travel up to 75% required.
