The Field Safety Technician assists in the administration and overall supervision of project safety and accident and fire protection programs to maintain a safe and healthy work environment. This is a non-exempt role that reports to the Site Manager / Area Safety Manager, with duties assigned according to specific procedures and work checked frequently.

Requirements

  • Technical training and/or industrial related safety experience
  • Post-offer drug/alcohol screen and physical evaluation
  • Job site safety requirements (clean shaven, long sleeves, steel toe boots, etc.)
  • Safety equipment as required by the client (hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, respirator, hearing protection, safety harness with lanyard, etc.)
  • Applicant/employee must not pose a direct threat to the health or safety of such individual or others at the workplace

Responsibilities

  • Conducts regular walk through inspections of construction areas
  • Identifies, documents and recommends resolutions of hazardous or potentially hazardous conditions and follows through to ensure that corrections have been made
  • Documents and investigates all accidents, safety violations and other unsafe conditions or activities
  • Compiles data, photographs, etc. and prepares all pertinent forms and reports according to corporate procedures and federal, state and local regulations associated with accidents
  • Issues various entry permits (i.e. to confined spaces) as required
  • Assists in controlling hazardous working conditions and unsafe employee activities through interfacing with management/supervisory personnel
  • Participates in developing and conducting personnel safety training programs
