About The Position

Chevron is accepting online applications for the position of Field Safety Specialist HSE. The position reports to the New Mexico Field HSE Team Manager and supports a wide range of health, safety, and environmental needs. The role requires frequent travel to field locations and close collaboration with operations, engineering, and contractor partners.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related discipline, in lieu of a degree, equivalent professional experience
  • Demonstrated experience supporting health, safety, and environmental activities in oil & gas, industrial, or construction field operations
  • Working knowledge of regulatory requirements and operational excellence (OE) processes, including Control of Work (CoW), Incident & Injury Response (IIR), and Emergency Management
  • Experience with serious injury and fatality (SIF) prevention programs, safe work controls, and permit-to-work systems
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to provide and receive feedback effectively
  • Ability to engage and influence field crews, leaders, and contractors to promote a strong safety culture
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to operate a light-duty truck to access field locations

Nice To Haves

  • Professional safety or environmental certification (e.g., CSP, ASP, NEBOSH, or equivalent)
  • Experience conducting incident investigations and implementing corrective actions
  • Demonstrated success identifying HSE gaps and resolving them through coaching, collaboration, and creative problem-solving
  • Experience delivering adult learning or hands-on training in a field environment

Responsibilities

  • Supporting safe operations related to high-risk work activities, including excavation, work at height, isolation of hazardous energy, confined space entry, hot work, material transfer, and lifting/rigging activities
  • Reading, interpreting, and applying safe work procedures, standards, and regulatory requirements
  • Engaging work crews and field leaders through coaching, verification of hazard mitigations, and field presence
  • Collaborating with crews and field leaders to identify and implement practical solutions to perform work safely
  • Developing and delivering hands-on HSE training and field-based learning activities
  • Conducting inspections and site assessments to ensure safeguards are in place and operating effectively
  • Responding to requests for field and asset support, providing guidance and advice on HSE concerns
  • Supporting incident response activities, including scene protection, information gathering, investigations, and required notifications
