About The Position

The Field Safety Sales Specialist is responsible for the management and profitable growth of Airgas business within the Airgas Mid South Region. This role involves managing sales, profitability, and accounts receivable within an assigned territory, and selling all Airgas products to customers. The specialist must adhere to company policies and regulations, develop and execute sales and marketing plans, actively pursue new accounts with a focus on profit margin, and review sales goals and gross profit margins. They will establish clear communication lines with internal departments, travel to call on customers, identify and qualify prospective customers, interpret customer needs, and analyze market data to develop sales strategies.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma
  • Minimum 3-5 years of related outside sales experience
  • Valid driver's license & personal vehicle with insurance coverage as required by the company
  • Ability to Travel Overnight for onsite meetings within territory

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • QSSP, OSHA 30 certified is a plus
  • Knowledge of safety products and services desired
  • Proven change management skills, including building sponsorship, communications, and stakeholder management
  • Must be able to use a computer and basic working knowledge of Excel, SAP, Salesforce, Google Workspace/programs (like Sheets, Docs & Google Slides, etc.) is a plus.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills

Responsibilities

  • Manage and achieve profitable growth of Airgas business within the assigned territory (OK, KS, & parts of LA, AR, MO & TX) and surrounding areas.
  • Meet and exceed corporate and regional objectives for sales growth, profitability growth, and A/R management.
  • Sell all Airgas products to the customer base.
  • Adhere to and assure compliance with the Code of Conduct/Handbook, policies, procedures, and all applicable rules, regulations, and standards.
  • Develop and execute regional company-specific sales and marketing plans.
  • Actively pursue and acquire new and competitive accounts with an emphasis on profit margin.
  • Review regional sales goals and gross profit margins within the assigned territory and monitor the effectiveness of sales and marketing efforts.
  • Establish and maintain clear and consistent lines of communication with internal departments regarding customer successes, failures, new developments, and other customer-specific information.
  • Travel throughout the assigned territory to call on regular and prospective customers.
  • Identify and qualify prospective customers within the assigned area or territory and keep direct managers informed.
  • Interpret customer needs and make appropriate recommendations to increase sales opportunities.
  • Research and analyze market data in the assigned area or territory to determine new customers, sales volume potential, and pricing, and develop a strategy to meet sales targets.
