About The Position

Join a team supporting electrical utility construction activities on a major substation project in Columbus, OH. This role offers the opportunity to provide field safety oversight for high-voltage electrical work, substation construction, energized utility environments, and contractor operations while working alongside experienced utility and construction professionals. This is an excellent opportunity for a safety professional with electrical utility experience who enjoys being highly visible in the field and actively supporting crews through coaching, auditing, and proactive hazard recognition.

Requirements

  • Four-Year Degree in Occupational Health & Safety with 2+ years of safety experience OR OSHA 500/510 with 5+ years of electrical utility safety experience OR BCSP Credential (CHST, ASP, CSP, SMS, etc.)
  • OSHA 30 Certification
  • OSHA 10 Certification
  • Current CPR/First Aid/AED Certification
  • Substation construction experience required
  • Ability to maintain individual Worker's Compensation coverage
  • Working knowledge of Electrical Utility Construction Safety
  • Working knowledge of Substation Construction Activities
  • Working knowledge of OSHA Construction Standards
  • Working knowledge of High Voltage Hazard Awareness
  • Working knowledge of Electrical Safety Programs
  • Working knowledge of Energized Work Controls
  • Working knowledge of Arc Flash & Shock Hazard Awareness
  • Working knowledge of Contractor Safety Management
  • Working knowledge of Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) Development
  • Working knowledge of Incident Investigation & Root Cause Analysis
  • Working knowledge of Construction Risk Assessment & Mitigation
  • Working knowledge of Procore Documentation & Reporting
  • Working knowledge of CPR/First Aid/AED Response Procedures

Responsibilities

  • Conduct daily jobsite audits and safety observations
  • Monitor contractor compliance with OSHA regulations and project safety requirements
  • Provide field safety support for substation construction activities
  • Assist with hazard recognition, risk mitigation, and corrective action implementation
  • Conduct safety inspections and document findings
  • Utilize Procore and project software platforms to maintain documentation
  • Support incident investigations and follow-up actions
  • Partner with project supervision and field personnel to promote safe work practices
  • Communicate safety expectations and project requirements effectively
  • Maintain safety records, reports, and compliance documentation
  • Support a proactive safety culture throughout the project

Benefits

  • Per Diem: $130/Day Worked
  • Completion Bonus: $150/month
