About The Position

The Field Safety Manager provides safety coverage, training, and coaching of Metromont’s Safety Program on our construction/job sites and may assist in the manufacturing plant. Position assists in job site audits and coordination with Metromont field crews & the general contractor.

  • Associates Degree in Environmental Health and Safety, or other related field preferred
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in a safety support or management role preferred
  • Experience in construction/job site safety is a plus
  • Prior experience in associate training preferred
  • Experience with a Behavior Based Safety Program a plus
  • Bilingual English/Spanish is of great benefit
  • OSHA 30 (1926) completed or able to be completed within 3 months of hire if certification is older than 5 years

Responsibilities

  • Perform field safety audits and review findings with field project foreman
  • Provide training to sub-contractors on Metromont’s safety practices
  • Conduct initial safety training orientation to new associates
  • Conduct equipment operation training for operators
  • Conduct behavioral observations to improve associate skills
  • Assist with safety audits and implementation of corrective action plans
  • Investigate safety incidents and participate in Root Cause Analysis process
  • Coach supervisors on presenting safety meeting topics as needed
  • Prepare site specific safety plans
  • Attend “Safe Start” meeting and provide required documentation to the general contractor
  • Perform review of the general contractor’s and owner’s safety plans during the sales/pre-bid portion of projects in order to identify economic impacts to Metromont due to special requirements for the project.
  • Attend general contractor’s safety committee meeting with safety professionals from all subcontractors
  • Assist with organization of annual field safety training day and perform portions of required training
  • Acquire specialized safety equipment as new requirements arise due to general contractor requirements or as the result of a corrective action
  • Assure that all safety documentation is made available for crews
  • Act as the point of contact for general contractors’ safety department
