About The Position

Schnabel is seeking a Field Safety Manager to join their team and protect their employees. As leaders in underground construction since 1959, safety is a core part of Schnabel's culture. This full-time position requires extensive travel to project sites throughout the Mid-Atlantic area. The Field Safety Manager plays a crucial role in enhancing employee safety and productivity through a dual reporting structure. They report daily/weekly to the Area Operations Manager, collaborating to ensure safe project execution, and also report to the Corporate Safety Director to maintain alignment with company-wide safety standards and initiatives. This structure ensures the Field Safety Manager is close to the field personnel they protect while having the necessary support.

Requirements

5 years of field experience in heavy civil construction, preferably geostructural but not required.
Laborers, welders, piledrivers, carpenters, and operators are welcome.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
General knowledge of OSHA standards regarding construction.
Ability to train, influence and motivate team members.
Self-motivated, great time management skills, strong work ethic and business integrity.
Passion for making a difference by keeping people safe!

Nice To Haves

Ability to speak, read and write in Spanish is beneficial but not required.

Responsibilities

Work in a team environment to oversee and make decisions related to project safety, health, and environmental policies.
Assist operation managers with project specific requirements.
Create Job Hazard Analyses for project specific tasks, review them with the project team and make any necessary changes as needed before or during work activities.
Conduct job site visits to support field personnel and conduct safety audits on personnel, equipment, and materials.
Evaluate, recommend, and implement safety procedures and policies for the benefit of employees.
Research and implement new materials handling processes.
Analyze accident reports and evaluate injury case studies based on available facts.
Prepare and conduct internal safety training sessions.
Ensure compliance with all regulatory bodies and standards (OSHA, MSHA, EPA, etc.).
Research regulations and policies and institute changes to ensure compliance.
Track incident metrics and apply findings.
Lead injury and incident investigations and evaluations.
Travel required, including a substantial amount of field visits.
