About The Position

Provide support to the Health, Safety and Environmental Programs at our project site in Red Bluff in Pecos, TX. Project is expected to last through 2028. Focus on ensuring field safety programs and policies are in place which promote a safe work environment; ensure compliance with state and federal regulatory guidelines. Areas of responsibility include employee safety, accident & incident prevention, safe work practices, safety orientation & training, field safety audits, emergency response, and safety policies & procedures administration. Conduct near miss, accident and environmental investigations, and complete comprehensive site audits both environmental and field.

Requirements

  • Must have previous experience in heavy civil and be knowledgeable in the safety hazards associated with heavy equipment.
  • Working knowledge of local, state and federal safety regulations, accident & incident prevention, and emergency response
  • Must have completed coursework towards or have obtained a degree in Safety or similar.
  • OSHA 30 certification is required.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains a proactive internal safety audit program to monitor employee work practices and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and Company safety standards.
  • Participates in addressing accidents, incidents and near misses through timely fact-finding investigation, determination of root cause, and implementation of corrective and preventative actions.
  • Keeps the HS&E Manager and local management informed on safety and health issues and progress toward accomplishing safety goals and objectives.
  • Performs workplace safety orientations for new employees, as required, and refresher workplace safety training for existing employees.
  • Trains and instructs foremen, superintendents and engineers to ensure compliance by field employees with safety policies and procedures.
  • Stays knowledgeable about all federal, state, and local regulations pertaining to safety and health issues and ensures compliance in each of these areas.
  • Performs other related duties as may be assigned or requested by immediate supervision.
  • Participates in other safety and environmental initiatives that will contribute to compliance of state/federal regulations and improve existing Company programs.
  • Responsible and accountable for incumbent’s own personal safety.
  • Responsible and accountable for the safety of all co-workers and any others incumbent comes in contact with.
  • Authorized and obligated to stop work on any task or series of tasks whenever an unsafe condition or situation is anticipated or is observed.
