About The Position

The Field Quality Specialist is responsible for providing quality and measurement support and troubleshooting to our network of TRD facilities primarily in Northern Alberta and NEBC while supporting all other facilities as needed, working in a fast-paced environment to safely handle and optimize our facilities inbound and outbound crude oil streams alongside Energy Marketing. This role will be based in northern Alberta with the focus on our Grande Prairie facilities, reporting to the Field Quality Lead and providing field level support for the Measurement Lead.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of previous experience working within the Oil & Gas industry.
  • Knowledge of sampling systems, API 8.2 standards, lab set up and workflow requirements required
  • Direct knowledge of facility processes, SCADA, and HMI systems required.
  • Strong understanding of crude oil chemistry and ASTM hydrocarbon test methods required.
  • Direct Experience with Crude oil quality required
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, Power Point).
  • Customer service oriented with a strong ability to build working relationships with facility managers, as well as external regulators, vendors, and contractors.
  • Ability to influence others within the job area through explanation of facts, policies, and practices.
  • Must be willing to travel, work flexible hours, and be on call to respond to issues when they occur.
  • High energy, results focused individual, works well in a fast-paced environment, and able to make decisions with financial implications in mind.
  • Attention to detail and ability to work under pressure while adhering to strict deadlines is critical.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and general problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Act as a point of contact for R360 Canada’s Quality programs
  • Facility training and additional development of quality control processes to continuously improve the program for R360 Canada’s Field Operations.
  • Develop and maintain standard operating procedures (SOP’s), ensuring procedures are implemented in accordance with applicable ASTM methods.
  • Assistance in facility process changes and commissioning.
  • Act as operation’s Quality Specialist responsible for mentoring Facility Operations and support personnel regarding blending and quality control knowledge.
  • Focus on optimizing crude oil delivery quality, according to blend plans set by energy marketing.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory standards pertaining to product quality assurance of pipeline systems.
  • Complete and perform key maintenance on critical quality analytics devices, document and report findings.
  • Ensure all field-based analysis is completed according to internal and external standards.
  • Field Auditing and training required when necessary.
  • Assist, validate, and respond to field level infractions by working with operations to change and mitigate quality blend plans.
  • Investigate quality related incidents to determine root cause and recommend process and equipment changes as required.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders, partners and pipeline companies to align quality programs and processes.
  • Support Energy Marketing with customer relationships.
