About The Position

National General is a part of The Allstate Corporation, offering a wide range of insurance products. As a Field Property Adjuster, you will be responsible for investigating and evaluating homeowners property claims from beginning to end. This includes confirming facts of loss, determining coverage, assessing damages, and negotiating settlements within your assigned authority. You will manage the entire claim lifecycle, including supplements, Additional Living Expense (ALE) claims, contents, and personal property losses. Collaboration with customers, contractors, and other partners is essential to ensure claims are handled accurately and efficiently. Delivering excellent customer service through clear and timely communication is a key aspect of this role, ensuring customers feel informed and supported throughout the claims process. The ideal candidate will be located in central or eastern Massachusetts, proficient in Xactimate, and possess a strong foundation in claims handling, including supplements, ALE, contents, and full claim ownership. Strong organizational skills, a proactive approach, excellent customer service, and adaptability in a fast-paced environment are crucial. Experience in both field and desk claims handling is strongly preferred, as is an active adjuster license or one that qualifies for reciprocity in applicable states.

Responsibilities

  • Investigate and evaluate homeowners property claims from start to finish.
  • Confirm the facts of loss, determine coverage, assess damages, and negotiate settlements within assigned authority.
  • Manage the entire claim lifecycle, including supplements, Additional Living Expense (ALE) claims, contents, and personal property losses.
  • Work closely with customers, contractors, and other partners to ensure claims are handled accurately and efficiently.
  • Deliver excellent customer service through clear, timely communication, keeping customers informed and supported throughout the claims process.
  • Exhibits mastery estimating fundamentals in order to create estimates of damages on the most complex 1st party homeowner losses of all severities.
  • Builds mastered relationships with both internal and external customers.
  • Interprets regulatory compliance and fair claims practices.
  • Negotiates settlements, makes settlement payments and documents all activities in the most complex of files.
  • Applies mastered content in interpretations of all policy types written by the company and assists leadership in formal and ad hoc training.
  • Recommends process improvements.
