About The Position

JGM is a national, self-perform industrial contractor and structural steel fabricator. As a Field Engineer, you're the link between the crews building the job and the team managing it. This role involves owning quality issues, material tracking, and productivity numbers on your job, jumping in wherever needed. The position requires a willingness to travel 75-100% and work extended hours, with common six-day work weeks and approximately 60 hours per week. The role offers a clear path into senior field leadership and project management.

Requirements

• A degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or Industrial Engineering, or equivalent hands-on experience in welding, fabrication, manufacturing, or the trades.
• Ability to read drawings and specifications, or the drive to learn quickly.
• Strong communication skills.
• Comfort with spreadsheets for tracking and reporting.
• Willingness to travel 75–100% and work extended hours for months at a time.
• Willingness to show up on the crew's schedule, including occasional Saturdays.

Nice To Haves

• Construction experience is a plus.
• Hands-on trade experience.

Responsibilities

• Investigate and resolve quality issues, obtaining sign-off from the fabricator and PM, and working with the crew on corrections.
• Track incoming material and deliveries to ensure the erection sequence progresses smoothly, creating tracking tools if necessary.
• Build and implement foreman tracking sheets for daily crew goals and report productivity to project leadership.
• Write and track RFIs for print clarifications, clashes, and erection-sequence questions.
• Act as the superintendent's assistant, fielding questions from customers and foremen, and making day-to-day decisions.
• Serve as a liaison between the field and office to drive schedule acceleration and cost control.
• Support safety through pre-task planning, JHAs, and toolbox talks.
• Perform other duties as needed, from customer meetings to picking up bolts.
